Replacement Grease Seal for Dexter 63052

Question:

i have a 1972 camping trailer with a seal number 63052 from Dexter. I cannot find a number to match in the Dexter on-line catalog. Can you give me some specific advice for a replacement seal. Thanks.

Expert Reply:

Based on my research Dexter seal 63052 appears to have been used in a military trailer application. I also could not find a current production seal that cross-references with this one.

In this case the way to find a new seal is to measure the hub bore and the spindle using a precision caliper like # PTW80157. Please refer to the linked diagram to see where to measure: point B on the spindle for the seal's inner diameter and the inside hub bore for the seal's outer diameter. You need to measure to the nearest thousandth of an inch, such as 1.234-inches.

You can then use the filters on the linked page to select those dimensions to find your replacement seal.
