Automatic Sliding Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for 2016 Ford F-250 6-3/4 foot Bed

Question:

Hey, I just have a quick question. I have been considering getting a new 5th wheel so I was looking at your hitches. I see that someone needs the sliding type hitch for a short bed. I have the short bed version of the F250, it is 6 and 3/4 foot bed, so I know it is bigger than your normal half ton short bed. Would you think I would still need the sliding type hitch?

For a 6-3/4 foot bed you would want to use a slider hitch still. Basically anything shorter than 8 feet is going to require a slider hitch unless the nose of the trailer was specially designed for turning clearance with a short bed truck.

I have a great slider hitch solution that I can provide though. The Demco Hijacker AutoSlide part # DM8550022 will automatically slide back and give you turning clearance while making sharp turns. This way you will avoid the hassle of having to get out and activate the slider of the hitch every time you pull into a parking lot.

With this hitch you would need the underbed rail kit part # DM8551000. What's great about this kit is that when you don't have a hitch installed your truck bed would be totally free and clear.
