Recommended Tuner for Improving Gas Mileage on 2002 Ford F-250

Question:

I have a 2002 Ford F250 7.3L diesel. I bought it used years ago. The few times its been in the shop, I have been told that there is some chip installed. I have no idea what this means exactly. The truck gives on average 22 mpg. Am wondering if I could do better? And whether this is the result of the chip? Will this product work? I would provide more information, but I dont know what youd need to know about this chip I apparently have. What do I look for? Does it need to be removed?

The Edge Diesel Evolution CTS3 Performance Tuner # EP96TR referenced in your question is confirmed to fit your 2002 Ford F-250 7.3L Diesel. I can't be certain what your local shop is referring to with regards to an existing chip on your truck but most likely it is some kind of tuner. If there isn't anything currently plugged into the OBD-II port on your F-250 then it may have been one that can be removed after setting the tune. Either way, if there is a current tune on the truck it will need to be reset for the truck to go back to its stock settings before you can properly install and operate the Edge Evolution. Your best bet will be to simply ask your shop for more details on this the next time you take the truck in.

The Edge Evolution CTS3 will help to improve your truck's gas mileage. It isn't a huge improvement, but usually about 10 percent.

I have attached a review video that you can check out as well.
