Super Hitch & Super Truss Extension for 2015 GMC 2500HD with 6.6.L Diesel
Question:
I would like to ask a question about your Super Hitch unit. My truck is a 2015 GMC 2500HD 4 door with the Diesel engine. Our trailer is a 2015 Jayco 19foot RV trailer 4500 pounds and I would like to carry a Suzuki V-Strom 650 500 pounds motorcycle in the truck box which will require the tail gate to be left down and still be able to hook onto the trailer. The width of the tail gate is approx. 18 inches and the box length is 6 feet 6 inch long. Can the Super hitch be used to pull our Jayco trailer. Our equalizer hitch is the Blue Ox Model. Please forward your thoughts. Thanks again, keep up the great product.

The 2-inch TorkLift Super Hitch that fits your 6-1/2-foot bed 2015 GMC Sierra 2500 diesel is their part # TLC1212 and with it you can use one of their SuperTruss Hitch Extensions like the 28-inch part # TLE1528. This and the 60-inch unit you referenced, part # TLE1560, can be seen on the linked page. Many lengths of extension are offered. You'll want to use the shortest one that will do the job.
Once you have your hitch installed you can measure the clearance you need in order for the tailgate to remain in the down/open position to accommodate your motorcycle that will be in the truck bed. You'll be able to choose the Super Truss extension that gives you the clearance you need between the edge of the open tailgate and the trailer's tongue.
Since you are using a weight distribution system you'll want to keep in mind that adding a 500-lb motorcycle to the truck bed will increase the effective tongue weight (TW) of the set-up. This could require changing out the spring bars on your Blue Ox WD system to higher-rated bars that can handle the additional TW from the motorcycle. You want to keep your total effective TW right in the middle of the operating range for the WD system you're using. The linked article on determining TW may be of interest.
