Are Trailer Hub/Drums Directional Like Trailer Drum Brakes
Question:
I am wanting to buy a complete hub assembly as a spare for my toy hauler, but i wanted to check first. are the 3500lbs Electric Trailer Brake Assembly directional?

Expert Reply:
Trailer brakes are directional, meaning that a trailer should be fitted with correctly matching left- and right-side brakes such as # AKEBRK-35R-SA and # AKEBRK-35L-SA based on the axle weight rating. However the hub/drums themselves, which fit over the brakes, are not directional. In other words while there are left and right brakes, there are no left and right hubs.
Hubs should be selected based on the bearing set used. This ensures the hubs fit on the trailer spindles. They also need to match the axle weight rating and the wheel bolt pattern.
