Troubleshooting Low Speed Pulsating of Proportional Brake Controller When Braking
Question:
I just finished installing a Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller in my 2002 Mitsubishi Montero Sport LS. Everything appears to be working perfectly until the tv slows to below 15 mph or so. At this point the trailer brakes start pulsing rapidly. I have connected all wires per the wiring diagram on your website and the manufacturer. My only concern is the cold side of the brake switch. I tapped in to a green wire after the switch, which has power when the brake is pressed and no power when its not, just like the directions say. Is it possible I have the wrong wire? Could abs be causing the pulsing somehow? I dont think the tv brakes are pulsing also, but its hard to tell. Any help is greatly appreciated.

What you described sounds like your Primus IQ part # TK90160 isn't mounted level and because of that is behaving erratically at low speeds. I attached a picture that shows how it has to be mounted.
The wire you used for the red wire of the brake controller appears to be the correct one based on what you described.
