Will The Curt Class I 1-1/4 Inch Hitch # C11210 Fit A 2011 Ford Mustang GT
Question:
I have been following this forum thread about Curt # 11210 fitment on a 2011 Ford Mustang GT. My car has a spare tire well that looks just like the one pictured that this hitch does not fit. Mine was built in September, not April. It does not have spare, just a compressor. Is there a hitch that fits my car?

As long as your Mustang is not a California Special, Shelby GT or a GT500 model, then yes, the Curt Class I Trailer Hitch, # C11210, will fit. No drilling is required to install and the exhaust must be temporarily lowered to raise the hitch into position. I have attached an installation video for you to check out.
If you will be using the Curt hitch for non-trailer loads like a hitch bike rack then you will need to use a Curt Stabilizing Strap, # 18050. One end of the strap will attach to the bike rack and the other end to the vehicles trunk lip or window. It gives added support and stability to the bike rack and keeps the movement of the bike rack to a minimum, which puts less stress on the hitch.
The manufacturer (Curt) requires the use of the stabilizing strap on all of their Class I hitches. Because the Class I hitches have a lower tongue weight capacity and they do not want any added strain to be put on that hitch.
