Yakima Ridgeback 4 Bike Rack Comes Loose from Hitch
Question:
Hello, After arriving from a 500 mile trip I noticed that the bike rack was loose from the hitch. Luckily the safety pin was in place. So on the way home during a stop I checked the hitch and again the rack was loose. I have 4 mountain bikes on the rack so it is weighed down but I need a way to solidify the connection between the rack and the hitch. Any thoughts on keeping the rack from coming loose? Cheers

I contacted my tech contact at Yakima and he said there could be a couple things going on with your Yakima RidgeBack 4 Bike Rack # Y02458.
If your wedge tightens and engages, make sure you are locking the red knob after tightening. While this may be obvious, locking the red knob prevents the wedge from working itself loose while on the road.
Beyond this, there could be an issue with the wedge assembly, however, I will need some photos of this part and bike rack to evaluate what the issue may be. So if locking the knob is not a solution, please send me some photos of your rack so I may help you identify the issue.
