Old Light Bar Had Just 1 Power Wire and New Light Bar has 2 Wires

Question:

I currently have a light bar on the back of my traier with 3/ 2.5 x 1 plug in light. I am going to replace that light bar with an LED. The problem I have is that the new bare has red with and ground. The old one just has one wire running to it

Your old light bar sounds like it grounds through the mounting hardware, which is common. That would be why it only has 1 wire. The new light bar has a power wire and a ground wire. You would just need to ground that one ground wire to a bare metal surface. The other wire is the power wire and will attach to the same place as the previous light bar power wire.

We have jacketed 2-wire # 12-2-1 sold by the foot. This is 12 gauge wire so it is a bit overkill for LED light wiring though it would still work.
