How to Wire 2-Wire Trailer Clearance Lamp

Question:

Hello I was wiring clearance lights on my old trailer and when I went to install the new lights, my new lights have two wires but the old clearance lights only connected to one wire and have only one wire to connect to, how would I wire this properly?

Your old trailer lights like # MCL67AB are grounded to the trailer via their mounting hardware. Since your new lamps use 2 wires, you'll connect the red wire to the trailer running lamp circuit and install a ring terminal on the end of the black wire. You'll ground the black wire to the trailer frame using a self-tapping screw, and the lamp will work perfectly for you.
