How to Extend a Class III, 2 Inch Trailer Hitch at Least 24 Inches
Question:
Looking for an extension dor class 3 hitch about 24 plus inches.
asked by: Cathy
Expert Reply:
The longest hitch extender for 2 inch hitches is 18 inches long, # C45796. If you use it with a long ball mount, # C45230, it would provide and overall extension of about 29 inches.
Please note that the use of an extender will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50 percent at least. If you were to use the ball mount only it would not reduce the tongue weight capacity. But by using an extender it does reduce the capacity.
