Recommended 20 × 48 Hitch Cargo Carrier for Better Clearance
Question:
I am a tool maker and wanted to know if I could replace the spacers with longer ones to give me more ground clearance.

For a similar rack with better ground clearance than the Curt # C18110, I recommend the Pro Series # 6502 for 2 inch hitches.
For better ground clearance with the Curt # C18110, you would need a hitch adapter, like the # HT5R depending on your receiver size. The catch with using any adapter like this is that it will reduce the weight capacity of the cargo rack by 50%.
I cannot recommend you modify this rack from its original design. This will void the warranty and has not tested to be safe.
