Universal trailer wiring harnesses such as # 46255 do not have vehicle specific installation instructions but it isn't difficult to install this harness. All you will have to do is determine the functions of the vehicle tail light wiring using a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 or a meter if you have one.
On the harness, the white wire is ground. Attach it to a clean bare metal surface. The yellow wire will go to the left turn signal/brake light wire on your 2011 Mercury Grand Marquis. The green wire will go to the right turn signal/brake light wire. Brown will go to a running light wire. Since the vehicle has combined turn signals/brake lights the red wire without the butt connector will be grounded with the white wire or just cut off.
The remaining red wire gets connected to the vehicle positive battery terminal via the included fuse and fuse holder. I have included a link to the instructions for you.
