Are Two Power Wires to Battery Needed to Hookup a 4-Pin and 7-Pin Connector on 2003 Ford Windstar

Question:

Plan on installing 4 pin wiring connector #36345 and 7 pin wiring connector #30717 to provide 12v power to my pop up camper. Do I need to run two lines to my battery, one for both units? Thanks,

Yes, you will need to run separate wiring for both connectors. You will need to install the wiring for the 4-pin connector, part # 118305, with its own power wire to the battery. Then, you will need to install the wiring for the 7-pin connector, part # 30717 with its own power wire. This is done to protect the vehicle power and wiring system.

You will want to check your owner manual of your vehicle to check and see when the vehicle was manufactured. If your 2003 Ford Windstar was manufactured after November 1, 2002 then part # 36345, will work on your vehicle. If your 2003 Ford Windstar was manufactured before November 1, 2002 but is a 2003 model, then you will need to use part # HM40615 for the 4-pin wiring connector.

Also, you will need a bracket for the 7-Pin Connector to mount to your hitch. If you have a round tube hitch, you will need part # 18159. If you have a square tubed hitch, part # 18138 will work perfectly.

Another option you could go with for a 7-Pin Connector would be the Adapter 4 Pole to 7 Pole, part # 37185, that includes a bracket and has a 4 way function as well.

I have linked instructions and a video installation of 4-Pin wiring connector on a 2002 Windstar that may be a good reference when installing on your 2003 Ford Windstar.
