Weight Distribution for a 2004 GMC Yukon Denali XL and Trailer with 800 Pounds Tongue Weight
Question:
I have been reading the reviews on the bump stops. Can you verify that these will work for me? I have a 2004 GMC Yukon Denali xl, all wheel drive with functioning auto ride. I just bought a travel trailer with 800 pounds of tongue weight and its just too much for the stock system.will these work for my application?

I did some checking and your 2004 GMC Yukon XL Denali has a maximum gross trailer weight capacity of 8,000 pounds. This means that the maximum tongue weight capacity for the vehicle is 800 pounds. And this is assuming no passengers or cargo in the vehicle (which decreases the capacity). If at all possible I recommend reducing the tongue weight of the trailer by moving weight towards the back of the trailer.
GM recommends the use of weight distribution on the trailer and not suspension enhancement to remedy the problem that you are having (specified in the towing section of the owner's manual).
Based on the tongue weight of the trailer I recommend a system that is rated for 1,000 pounds tongue weight, # FA92-00-1000. This system also comes with built-in sway control and the only other part you would need is a 2-5/16 inch ball # EQ91-00-6100. I have included some links on weight distribution and determining tongue weight for you.
