When installing a hardwire trailer wiring harness such as # C59236 you have to test the vehicle tail light wires to determine their functions using a circuit tester such as # PTW2993.
Testing the wires is required because there is no standard wire color and function code. Your 2001 Ford Crown Vic has separate turn signal wires from the brake light wires. The yellow wire on the harness goes to the left turn signal wire on the vehicle. The green wire is for the vehicle right turn signal wire.
The brown wire will connect to a vehicle tail/running light wire. And the red wire will connect to a brake light wire on the vehicle. Be sure that the white ground wire is attached to a clean, bare metal surface. That just leaves the power wire that connects to the battery.
Once you have identified the right wires on the vehicle the rest of the installation will be easy.
