When Installing ZCI Trailer Wiring Harness Does Power Wire Have to go to Vehicle Battery

Instead of going to the battery can it be connected to a power outlet in back 2014 BMW 335 gt

Expert Reply:
When installing a trailer wiring harness you really want to run the wire up the vehicle battery. Doing this allows the trailer wiring to be totally isolated from the vehicle's wiring. In the event of a short this prevents any damage on the vehicle's wiring. On a new BMW you really do want to have the circuit protection. Also, if you don't run the wire to the battery the warranty of the ZCI Harness part # 119250KIT would be voided.
