Will Curt Gooseneck Plate, # 16055, Fit On Reese Rails, # RP30035, And What Is Rating On Rails

Question:

I have a 1997 Chevy Cheyenne 4 door with an 8 bed. My 5th wheel trailer has a gooseneck adapter on it but I do not want to be locked in to a gooseneck hitch. I would like to install the rails and use the Curt gooseneck plate 16055. Will this work? What is the rating of the rails? Thanks for your help.

The Curt Gooseneck Plate, # 16055, will fit on the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit, # RP30035. The gooseneck plate is rated for 25,000 lbs. The universal rails will be able to handle the 25,000 lbs. weight rating because the rails are designed to exceed the towing weight capacity of the vehicle it will fit.

The gooseneck plate and the universal rails will both exceed the towing capacity of your 1997 Chevy Cheyenne truck. So the weight rating limit will be determined by the towing capacity of your 1997 Chevy Cheyenne.

If you wanted to remove the gooseneck adapter from your fifth wheel you could use a fifth wheel hitch.

Depending on the towing capacity of your truck and the weight of the fifth wheel trailer you are towing you can start with a Reese Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch And Install Kit, # RP30047, # RP30035. This will give you the same universal install kit # RP30035 and a Fifth Wheel Hitch that is rated for 16,000 lbs.

I also have the Reese Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch And Install Kit, # RP30928, # RP30035. This is a fifth wheel hitch that is rated for 20,000 lbs.
