Electric Winch Recommendation for a Boat Trailer

Can you bypass ignition switch wire on superwinch Lt3000ATV winch for mount on boat trailer. The superwinch UT3000 winch doesnt have ignition wire and might be better choice but i want load holding brake.

There are different ways you could wire Superwinch LT3000 # SW1130220 so as not to have to have the ignition on to use the winch. However, this winch is not really designed for use with a boat trailer. I recommend something more suited for boat trailers such as the Dutton-Lainson StrongArm # DL25200.

This winch features a strap rather than a wire rope so it will hold up better in marine environments. It does feature positive mechanical braking so it can hold a load. To mount it on a trailer you can use mount plate # DL24059.

I recommend the Dutton-Lainson TW4000 #DL25200. It's rated for up to a 4,000 boat and is powered through a quick disconnect hooked up to your tow vehicle's battery. So there's no need to add a battery onto your boat trailer.
