Recommended Trailer Hitch And Wiring For 2013 Honda Crosstour

Question:

I have a 2013 honda crosstour. I would like a hitch for it, for light towing, like a pop up camper, and mostly for my bike rike. I currently have a 2inch bike rack. I only see 1 1/4 hitchs. I have to have to use an adapter, which would only stick out more. Do you have a 2? Any suggestions?

The trailer hitches we offer that are designed to fit your 2013 Crosstour, like the Curt Trailer Hitch, part # C11002, are Class l hitches and have a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening.

Using a hitch adapter like part # HTAD does reduce the capacity of the hitch by 50 percent. This means for towing you would be limited to a trailer that weighs less than 1,000 lbs and a tongue weight about 100 lbs.

If the weight of your bikes and bike rack together do not exceed 100 lbs, the HTAD would work for you. It does stick out further and has a distance of 7-1/4 inches from pin hole to pin hole.

When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.

I do recommend locking hitch pin locks like part # e98880 for the 2 inch part of the adapter and part # e98879 for the 1-1/4 inch receiver.

You will want to check your owner's manual or with your dealership to make certain you do not exceed the towing capacity of your vehicle.

If you do not have a trailer connector on your Crosstour, I recommend par # C56215. This easily attaches to the vehicle wiring that can be found behind the passenger side trim panel in the rear cargo area.
