Replacement Spring Hangers and Equalizers for Dorsey Tandem Trailer With Larger Wheels/Tires
Question:
I have a 2001 tandem axle boat trailer Trailers by Dorsey with 3x2 rectangular axles with a 5-inch springs on top. My original equalizer is wore out and the clearance with the larger wheels and tires is minimal. If I put a taller equalizer on will I have to add taller hangers to match the taller equalizer? Some concerns I have are the rotation of taller equalizer and the difference in levelness of the leaf springs if a taller hanger is not added when a taller equalizer is used.

If you change to taller equalizers you will also need to change to taller spring hangers to keep the system's geometry correct. If you recently replaced your wheels/tires with larger ones it certainly could be necessary to change out the hangers and equalizers to keep enough clearance between the tires and fenders.
