How to Pick Out Weight Distribution System for a 2015 Toyota Tacoma Towing Travel Trailer

Question:

I have a 2015 Toyota Tacoma TRD with towing package and we are buying a 19foot Escape Trailer dry wt 2610 lbs. We are trying to figure which Weight distribution and sway control system to buy, along with other items to purchase. We are totally new at this, so your help is appreciated. We are looking at the E2 Fastway system for 4500 lb capacity -Trunnion style. Is this enough info, and what do you think about this option? Info on the 19foot Escape trailer: Total length 19-6 Body length 15-8 Total height 8-6 Exterior width 7 Approx. Dry hitch weight 256 lbs Approx. Dry axle weight 2354 lbs Approx. Total dry weight 2610 lbs Gross Vehicle Weight Rating 4000 lbs Front bed / dinette 44inch X 80 Permanent Queen Bed 60inch X 80 Interior height 6-5 Bathroom size 40w x 27d x 72h

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.

Once you know your tongue weight you will want to check out the link I attached that has all of the weight distribution systems we carry. You will be able to select your tongue weight from the filters to see what would be rated for your setup.

If your loaded tongue weight falls between 250 and 600 lbs the Fastway System part # FA92-00-0600 that you referenced would be a great choice.

For a 2 inch ball you would want part # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286.
