Recommended Wiring Harness For 2011 Honda Pilot
Question:
I have a 2011 Honda Pilot EXL with factory Hitch but no harness harness only came factory installed on the touring model. There is however a plug behind the bumper by the Muffler so I take this as it has the tow pacakge. I am trying to determine which one of the 2 kits is correct for my setup. It seems that they both would work but Im not 100 sure as they both seem to contain different wiring based on the pictures.

You are correct. The plug you found back by the muffler behind the rear bumper on your 2011 Pilot is indeed the plug you will need to connect a wiring harness to.
The Wire harness I recommend for your Pilot is the Tow Ready T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, part # 118491. The harness simply plugs into the plug you found under the vehicle and you would then run the harness to the location you want, making sure you avoid the exhaust and securing the wires. We have had very good feedback from customers when they use the Tow Ready wiring harnesses.
You will then move to the rear cargo compartment and open the small door on the driver side labeled Aux Fuse. remove the door for access to the fuse panel and install the fuses and the relay.
Then you move further back behind an access panel where you will find a plug for the small square box included with the harness kit.
Then move up to the fuse panel under the hood on the driver side. You will install the final fuse in this panel as shown in the attached video.
I also recommend using a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to test the harness after installation to make sure everything is working properly.
When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.
