The brake controller installation on your 2006 F150 is pretty easy. The connector for the brake controller is located under the dash, behind and to the right of the OBD port as shown in the video I've linked for you. You'll need the brake controller wiring adapter, part # 3035-S. The adapter will plug into the connector, and the bare wires on the connector would wire to your Dexter Predator brake controller, color for color.
If your vehicle is equipped with the 7-way trailer connector, the installation is complete. If your truck only has the 4 pole connector, the install will be slightly different. You'd still use the 3035-S, but after plugging it into the connector under the dash, when you go to connect the wires to the brake controller, leave the blue brake controller wire unconnected. Get a length of 10 gauge wire long enough to reach from the brake controller, through the firewall and under the vehicle to the back bumper. We sell the # 10-1-1 wire by the foot. Use a butt connector to attach the blue wire to the blue wire exiting the rear of the brake controller. At the rear of the vehicle, use a # 37185 adapter to convert your existing 4-pole to a 7-way trailer connector. Plug the adapter into the 4-pole. There will be 4 loose wires to contend with. The blue wire connects to the blue wire you ran from the brake controller. The black wire would run under the vehicle to the positive battery terminal running through a 40 amp breaker, part # 9510 and the white wire would ground to the truck frame. If the trailer has reverse lights, the purple wire would tap into the reverse light circuit on the truck. Otherwise, you can just bundle up the purple wire up out of the way.
The video I've linked will show what to do if the truck has the 7-way, but I don't have any footage specifically showing what to do if the truck has a 4-pole only.
