Recommended Replacement Tire for 5.70 x 8 Tire

Question:

Its time to replace my old 5.70 - 8 tires. Can you tell me if I can replace them with the AM1HP28? Its for a pop up trailer. Thanks

The outer diameter of a 5.70 x 8 tire and wheel is 18.1 inches, same as the tire, # AM1HP28 which you reference. However, a 5.70-8 fits on a 3-3/4 inch wide rim while # AM1HP28 fits on 7" rims. That 3-3/4 inch difference is quite a bit. When the tire is on the rim the larger size will be nearly 8.5 inches wide compared to 5.7 inches on the smaller size. You will need to make sure that you have about 3 inches of space between the trailer frame and the back of the 5.70-8 to go to the larger size.

I have also included a link to the 5.70 x 8 inch tires that we currently have available. Of these the section width of these tires is 5.8 and 5.9 inches.

I have included links to a couple of informational articles about trailer tire and sizing for your reference.
