Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2014 Mercedes Benz E-350
Question:
I want to take one bike from Vail to San Diego. I am concerned reading the reviews of various bike racks that they could dent the bumper of the car on a trip this long. I am 68 years old and also cannot handle something difficult to use or heavy. All of the reviews I read are for much less expensive automobiles … are Bike racks even recommended for my car? The dealer only carries roof racks and only recommends them but I would be unable to lift the bike to this type of rack. Short of having my bike shipped, do you have a recommendation for the best bike rack not to damage my car in anyway and that will be easy for me to use?

The perfect solution for you and your 2014 Mercedes Benz E-350 would be a hitch and hitch mounted bike rack.
If your vehicle is a sedan you would want the # C11001 for a hitch or if you have a wagon you would want the # C11404.
The Swagman XTC2, part # S64670 is one of the most popular racks because it's so easy to use, and because the rack has an angled shank that would raise the bike rack up by three inches providing additional ground clearance. Because of that, this is the rack I'd recommend for you. The rack includes an anti-rattle hitch bolt, but a combination anti-rattle hitch lock/cable lock is available separately as part # S64031.
