Can the Curt Hitch # C11001 Work with my JetSki Trailer on My 2011 Mercedes E-350 Sedan?
Question:
Is this trailer rated enough for a 780lb jetski and 500lb trailer?

Expert Reply:
While the Curt Hitch - 1-1/4" # C11001 definitely has enough gross towing weight capacity for your 780-pound JetSki and 500-pound trailer, you also need to consider the tongue weight of your setup. The tongue weight is the vertical weight that is exerted on the hitch. This number is important because the # C11001 only allows for a maximum of 200 pounds of tongue weight.
In order to get an accurate reading, I recommend using a tongue weight scale like our etrailer Tongue Weight Scale for Campers and Utility Trailers - 2,000-lb Capacity # e99044. However, you can also use a home bathroom scale or a commercial scale to get the weight as well. I went ahead and attached a helpful article that tells you how to use a bathroom scale and a commercial scale.
We unfortunately do not carry any higher-capacity hitches for your 2011 Mercedes E-350 Sedan.
As with all hitch applications, I recommend consulting with your vehicle's owner's manual to make sure that your vehicle is rated to withstand the weight you wish to transport.
