To install a fifth wheel hitch in your 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500HD, you can choose between the Universal install kit which would require drilling into the truck frame, part # RP30035 or the custom install kit, part # RP50064-58 which uses existing holes in the truck frame.
If you have a long bed truck, a stationary hitch like the # RP30047 would be needed. If you have the short bed, you'd want to use the sliding version, part # RP30075.
This particular hitch uses a slide bar jaw, which I would consider an entry level hitch. The jaw mechanism will hold the king pin well enough that it won't come loose, but it will allow the king pin to move around a bit. This will cause the king pin to bang around during acceleration and braking, which leads to a lot of noise. Over several hours of travel, listening to the noise and the feeling the truck shake can get pretty tedious. A hitch that uses a dual jaw set-up like the Reese # RP30047 for the stationary or the # RP30051 or # RP30075 for the sliding models which would make for a much more pleasant towing experience.
If your truck doesn't already have the 7-way installed in the truck bed, you can install one using part # 41157.
I've linked you to a video showing the wiring and the custom install kit being installed on a 2004 Silverado.
