Does Trailer Wiring Harness for 2009 Kia Sedona have to be Connected to the Battery

Question:

I bought the Curt wiring harness C56347 form etrailer.com for my 2009 KIA Sedona. Can I power the control unit by using one of the unused fuse box entries in the rear of the vehicle INSTEAD of wiring it all the way back to the battery in the front of the vehicle?

You will need to attach the trailer wiring harness power wire from # C56347 to the battery on your 2009 Kia Sedona. No other circuit is recommended. This is because of several factors:

1) It is not tested with any other circuit
2) Deviating from the instructions can result in a voided warranty
3) If tapped into the fuse panel you will loose some of the circuit protection

If they tested it with other circuits, that would take care of 1 and 2 but 3 still remains. The issue is that the harness is designed to limit the amount of connections needed on different circuits on the vehicle. If it was connected to the fuse panel and there was a short it could end up causing damage to other electrical components on the vehicle.

Routing the power wire to the front of the vehicle is not difficult, it just takes time. I have included a link to a help article with tips on routing the power wire.
