Video Transcript for HushMat Van Cabin Door Insulation Kit Review

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look at the HushMat installation kit. And this is gonna be available for a bunch of different cargo vans, panel vans, whatever it may be, and also for a bunch of different components, whether it be your sliding door, your rear door or your roof, whatever component of the vehicle, where you're gonna be installing it. Now, just because it's specific to a vehicle, it doesn't mean that you can't put this in your RV, your camper, or just a passenger vehicle. And reason being is those kits, when you pick your component in vehicle really is just the square footage that you're gonna need, and this is all custom fit. So if you buy a kit, you should be able to custom fit it to whatever application. Now we have this one panel installed and you might wanna see how it works.

So pretty quickly, I'm gonna close this door. I'll knock where this HushMat is, and then I'm gonna knock in the exposed part and you're gonna hear the difference. It's knocking the same amount. You can tell that noise doesn't really echo, it just kind of absorbs it up. So it really does make a huge difference.

So now you can see here is the sheet that it comes in. And depending on your kit, you're gonna get a certain number of these and you're just gonna custom fit it. So really kinda just laid mine out here. You know, easy score here and it's gonna place wherever you need it. So you have to double up a few times, but installation is super easy with a peel and stick.

It goes on extremely easy even when in tight corners, if you worry about catching on things and it's permanently sticking, it's easy to actually separate that. Once you have a flat surface, you just kinda rub it on and it's gonna stay on. Now, this is just like insulation for your house, and the fact that you're gonna get not only sound deadening, but also an R-value that's going to help with heating and air conditioning in your car. So during the summer, it's gonna stay a little bit cooler. During the winter, it's gonna stay a little bit warmer.

So it's really nice. Once it's installed, you'll never have to worry about it again, and you're gonna get the benefits every time you drive. Now, unlike the installation in your house, your house isn't subject to a lot of road noise like your vehicle is. And in fact, HushMat claims that they can get a 15 decibel reduction in the road noise with this installed. So that's gonna make a huge difference and you're gonna notice probably that your radio is gonna be turned down a little bit more than you we're used to. And that's because you're keeping that sound in and keeping that outside noise out. So it's gonna be a great option for a bunch of different applications. Now we have it installed here on our sliding door, but I'm gonna show you a few other places that you can also install it. Your door panel, once you pop your door panel off, same thing, you just put that in, in the webbing of the door, you're gonna have installation there. You can also do it on your firewall, underneath your dash, on your floorboard, really anywhere. And overall, it's also gonna take some of the vibration noises out of the vehicle as well, and does just seem to give it a little more sturdy on the sound throughout the vehicle. Now you can also find the kit that is for your rear cargo door, or you can do your entire cargo area. So there's kits that actually cover the entire component of the vehicle itself. So you can really go throughout the whole thing and have the whole thing covered in HushMat. Now, as far as temperature goes, this is rated from negative 30 degrees Fahrenheit up to 400 degrees. So you can actually put this underneath your hood on your vehicle and it's not gonna have any issues with that heat. So you can simply place it under here. This one does have this insulation already, you could put it behind there. But if your car doesn't and you just peel and stick, press it on, and that's gonna cut down on engine noise. Seeing the benefit on the sliding door and the noise reduction immediately, it makes me realize that I'm gonna install it on the doors as well and this is gonna be a night and day difference when out on the road. Now, depending on where you're installing in and what kinda vehicle, you're gonna need to probably pull some panels off as it needs to live under there. And that's gonna be the best part about this is, once it's installed you're never gonna see it, you're just gonna know that the cabin is gonna be quite a bit quieter, you're not gonna hear that road noise as much, and your radio, the music's gonna sound quite a bit better as it is all contained in the vehicle. So getting installed, you're gonna want to make sure, obviously you have your panels out of the way and then it's pretty simple. You're gonna take your sheet, kinda get an eyeball of where you want it to go. So for instance here is going to be good. We're gonna have to make a quick cut here, but that shouldn't be a problem. And then the rest of 'em, you're really just kinda custom fitting it to make sure that it fits where you want it. You're gonna wanna cover about 70% of the panel that you're putting this on. So let's get this one stuck in place. Now what's really nice is it is pretty flexible. So that way you can kinda find that spot that you want it, and then kinda score along the lines with razor knife. And then you'll be able to peel that back to get that custom fit. And once you have a score line, you're gonna wanna go back on. Actually here's some portion of it. A quick little mark up here just to see how it looks. And I think that is going to work great. So I'm gonna just kinda peel off one backside here, and I'll get this set where I want it, and just working my way over, just more peel and press. And now we just continue on with whatever pieces we have, custom cutting them to fit our panel. So I've gone ahead and I've finished up the cut for the sliding door on my Sprinter van, and noticeably just a large difference as far as the sound inside it seems. So really all that's left to do is put the panels back on, and this really does apply pretty easy. It is sticky, but few times I caught edges I didn't want, and it's easy to peel back up. And once you find a good spot and you flatten it down, it's not gonna go anywhere. And so the glory of it is, you can really go through your entire vehicle, anything that has a panel, and cover up those dead spaces and you're gonna notice a huge difference. And this is gonna be good for anyone that really drives honestly, but especially you people that camp inside of your Sprinter vans or anything along those lines, this is not only going to keep sound out. So if you're at a loud campsite, you can not have to hear that, but while you're driving, it's also gonna be better noise or reduction of it. And overall, it's gonna give you a little bit of insulation value as well. So your heating and cooling inside of the vehicle will be more efficient. And that was a look and installation of the HushMat installation kit. Thanks for watching..
