Installation of 7-Way Trailer Connector on 1996 Ford F-250
Question:
I have a 1996 ford f250 super cab. It has the connector under the dash for a trailer brake controller and seems to have two unused plugs under the driver side of the bed toward the rear that i am pretty sure are for a 7 way connector. is there a quick plug in kit for this application so i can use a trailer brake system?

We do not have a plug in solution for those connectors under the rear of your truck bed, if you wish to utilize those existing connectors you would need to obtain the trailer connector from your Ford dealer.
This being said, you can cut those connectors off, and hard wire in a 7-way connector pretty easily. I would recommend using the Hopkins Multi-Tow Trailer Connector, part # HM48470. The blue and orange wires attached to the one connector feed the brake controller output and the 12-volt accessory feed, respectively. The orange wire connects to the terminal for the 12-volt accessory feed which is at the 1:00 position (as you are looking at the front of the 7-way). The blue wire connects to the terminal in the 5:00 position.
The other connector contains the wires for the lighting functions. On Ford vehicles, they are typically color coded as follows: green wire-right directional/brake light, yellow wire-left directional/brake light, brown wire-tail lights.
I will link you to a copy of the install instructions for the Hopkins connector, which contains a pretty good diagram explaining the connections.
If you don't already have a brake controller, you can't go wrong with the Prodigy P2, part # 90885. The controller is extremely easy to use, and would install using the # 3035-P brake controller wiring adapter.
