The Hopkins # 30955 is covered by a 90 day manufacturer's warranty.
The first thing you'd want to do is unplug the # 30955 from the vehicle harness. Then, activate the right turn signal and use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 on the factory wiring harness. One of the sockets in the factory plug should cause the tester to light up when the right turn signal is activated, or the brake pedal is pressed. If you do get signal on the factory harness, plug the # 30955 back in, being sure the factory plug is inserted fully into the socket of the # 30955. Then, use the tester on the right turn signal pin on the 7-way (the pin in the 3:00 position.) If the tester doesn't light up with the right turn activated or the brake pedal pressed, the trailer connector is defective and should be replaced.
If you do NOT get any signal on the factory harness with the right turn or brake pedal pressed, you might have a tow package fuse that's blown. The fuses are located in the power distribution box under the hood on the drivers side inside fender. The lid on the box should have a diagram showing which fuse protects which circuit. Replace the fuse if necessary.
Before plugging the trailer back in, you'll need to carefully examine the right hand turn signal circuit on your trailer. You'll need to locate the short that caused the fuse to blow, otherwise you'll continue to blow fuses. Begin at the trailer connector, and trace the circuit back to the taillights, looking for pinched wires, loose connections or wire with cracked or worn insulation that would allow the copper wire to short out on the trailer frame.
