Trouble Finding Brake Switch Wire to Install Brake Controller on a 2006 Toyota Tundra

Question:

I have followed instructions for 2002 Tundra, I have a 06, I cant get tester to light up on any of the four wires at brake switch above brake pedal so I can find brake signal wire. I tried another tester, tested tester and it works fine. I have connected the alligator clip to wires and used metal point to ground and vice versa, any suggestions........???

Some times the truck has to be turned on for there to be power on the correct brake switch wire. If the brake lights do not light up unless the truck is on then turn the truck on and then test the brake switch wires.

Usually circuit testers don't need a substantial ground but that could be the issue too. You need a bare metal steel surface. No paint or aluminum. If you have the white brake controller wire attached to the negative battery terminal then you should be able to temporarily attach the tester ground to it.

I have linked a video that might help but the wire colors may not be the same between a 2002 and a 2006.
