Will B&W Companion 5th Wheel Hitch Fit a 2015 Ram 3500 with Toolbox/Fuel Tank Behind Cab

Question:

I have ordered a 2015 Dodge Ram Longhorn with 8foot bed and factory prep tow package. I will be installing a combo tool box/fuel tank and want to know what the distance is to release the RVK3600 B and W hitch and does it go beyond the puck. It appears to release back toward the cab.

On the B&W 5th wheel trailer hitch # BWRVK3600 for Ram trucks that have the OEM prep package, the jaw release handle will not extend further back that the forward pucks in the truck bed.

The head is attached to supports that can be positioned in such a way as to increase the distance between the head and the back of the truck cab and is further illustrated in the instructions I have linked for you. This adjustment is designed to give you more clearance when towing but would also work for your purposes. I spoke with demonstrator in the video I have linked on this hitch and he is confident that the handle does not stick out more than the front pucks when opened.

Keep in mind that the height of the toolbox/fuel tank could be an issue too if the box rests on the tops of the bed sides. If so make sure that you have 5 or 6 inches from the top of the toolbox to the bottom of the trailer overhang.
