Comparing Reese M5, Curt A25 and B and W Companion Hitch for 2019 Ram 3500 with OEM Rail Kit

Question:

If the price difference is not of a concern, what would be your first, second and third choice among the CURT Q24, the REESE M5, and the BandW Companion RVK3600 to haul a 43 foot 5th wheel weighing in at 16,500 lbs using a 2019 RAM 3500 Dually long bed with the HO diesel engine? In trying to decide for myself, the most commonly written negatives that I have seen in various reviews are: the Curt is made in China but no specifics as to detriments other than the fearinch of Chinese made products and that the hitch can bind on uneven terrain the release handle on the Reese stops you from using your tonneau cover when not towing and, the BandW polyurethane bushings can get damaged/wear out, plus you cant reach the locking pin for the release arm from the side of your truck negating the advantage of being able to reach the release arm itself. And how about longevity, when properly maintained? Is this part of the concern for the made in China argument? Thanks much

The two best options from what you mentioned are the Reese M5 part # RP30918 and the Companion # BWRVK3600. If you wanted to go with a Curt the A25 part # C16046 would be the better option as this essentially is the updated version of the Q series with a much better jaw design for a smoother ride quality.

Now that said I have a friend of mine who went with the M5 after having used the Companion hitch for years and he said that overall the ride quality was smoother and the hitch was easier to connect and disconnect. And since you want to fit it under a tonneau you'd also want the part # RP58553 too which is a handle that faces down instead of up and you'd be set. This also is better on price than the Companion. Which the Companion is widely considered the gold standard for fifth wheel hitches for a very long time so if you went this route it would work well for you.
