Why Does Valve for the DeeZee Connector Kit 97962 Have to be Closed During Travel on 2016 Ram 2500

Question:

Hello, why does gravity aux fuel tank valve have to be closed during travel? Provided your main tank is running low, would it not feed straight into the filler tube/ tank without a problem? Also I have read that ram models without fuel cap on filler tube have a problem with this gravity feed? Thanks was ready to purchase for long trip, but having questions that I hope you can answer. 2016 Ram Laramie 2500

The reason that the valve on the Connector Kit # DZ97962 would need to be closed with the Auxiliary Tank # DZ91752X installed on your 2016 Ram 2500 is because DeeZee didn't design it to work that way and it may cause check engine alarms to go off. I spoke to my contact at DeeZee who confirmed this.

I also asked her if they had heard of any issues with Ram models that don't have the fuel cap filler tube and she said that they haven't heard anything about this.

This auxiliary tank is great for a long trip because you don't have to calculate your stops and make sure that there is a gas station close by when you have the auxiliary tank full and your gas light comes on. It will help you plan your trips around where you want to stop as opposed to where you need to stop because you can pull off at any rest stop or exit and simply open the valve to refuel.
