If towing with your 2013 Volvo S60, there are a few things you will need.
First, if you do not have a trailer hitch, I recommend the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, part # 75916. This is a Class lll trailer hitch with a 2 inch receiver opening.
The next item I recommend is the etrailer Ball Mount Kit, part # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
When towing trailer with electric brakes you will need a brake controller. For your S60 I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885. This is a proportional brake controller that adjusts the trailer brakes in proportion to the brake action on your towing vehicle. This is one of our most popular because it is easy to install and operate.
If you have no trailer wiring on your Volvo, you will need to install a 4-way connector like part # C59236.
You will then need to install part # ETBC7. This will attach to the 4-way connector and with some additional wiring give you a 4-way and a 7-way connector at the rear of your S60.
When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.
I have attached links to some helpful articles and videos you can check out.
You will want to check your owner's manual or with your dealership to make sure you do not exceed your Volvo towing capacity.
