Multipurpose Trailer Hauls Different Types of Boats and Cargo

MPG535 In Use

This heavy-duty, low-profile trailer with 78" crossbars has extensive space to mount accessories like watersport carriers, bike racks, a fishing rod carrier, or a cargo box (sold separately). Because of the trailer's low-profile design, the crossbars sit only 22" off the ground. The lower crossbars provide a safe height to load heavy kayaks and help avoid unnecessary overhead lifting.

With a 7-1/2' tongue, this trailer offers exceptional clearance during tight turns. The extended tongue also makes it easier to back up the trailer and prevent binding than trailers with shorter tongues.

Submersible LED Trailer Lights

MPG535 LED tail lights

The DOT-approved tail lights on this trailer are fully submersible, so you don't have to worry about damaging the lights when loading and unloading your boat in water. Each tail light has brake, running light, and turn signal functions, as well as side marker lights and reflectors. In addition, these LED lights last longer, burn brighter, and require less power than incandescent bulbs.

Plug-and-Play Trailer Wiring

CE48870 main harness to 4-way

The wiring for this trailer has a simple plug-and-play design, so it doesn't require any cutting or splicing to install. As you assemble the trailer, route the main wiring harness through the trailer tongue and down towards the body of the trailer. Then plug the 4-wire end of the tail light harness into the main harness.

CE48870 4-way plug

Run the wires of the tail light harness along the sides of the trailer frame and plug the individual wires into the matching wires on the side marker lights and the tail lights. The wires are color-coded so that you can easily match them up - no circuit tester is required. Once all of the wires are plugged in, use the included clips to secure the harness to the frame.

CE48870 4-way plug

When you're ready to connect the trailer to your vehicle, simply plug the trailer end of the main harness into the 4-way flat connector on your vehicle.

Leaf Spring Suspension

MPG535 leaf spring suspension

This trailer includes a leaf spring suspension system to limit road shock while you tow. A sturdy steel axle runs beneath the trailer frame. The 2 slipper springs that support the axle flex to absorb the rough motion that can occur when driving over bumpy terrain. Also, the axle, spring hangers, and tie plate are galvanized to resist rust and corrosion.

Quick and Easy Trailer Hookup

MPG535 trigger style coupler

Hooking this trailer to your vehicle is quick and easy. The trailer's coupler connects to a 2" hitch ball, and the included safety chains act as an emergency measure if the coupler accidentally disconnects from your hitch ball. A rubber coated lift handle is mounted to the coupler to provide a solid grip for lifting or maneuvering the trailer. Finally, the skid plate on the underside of the trailer tongue keeps the coupler from touching the ground.

This trailer is a rock star. Loading/unloading our kayaks has never been easier. We added some SeaWing kayak carriers to this trailer and they absolutely keep the kayaks secure. We tow this behind our Honda HRV all over the great State of WA without issue. So rather than struggle with loading/unloading your kayak(s) from the roof of your car, buy this trailer. It makes life a helluva lot easier Yes, you need to assemble it, but the video is crystal clear with good directions.
We bought everything from e-trailer.com for this:
The trailer hitch mount, 2” ball assembly, wiring harness, SeaWing carriers, storage box, etc….

Great versatile trailer! Easy to tow my kayaks or two 17 foot aluminum canoes, with my Subaru Forester. Trailer can easily be moved around manually, and I was able to put it together in a few hours with the supplied directions. A great product from a great dealer.

by:

This is the best purcchase I could have made.I'm only sorry I didn't do it sooner. I was worried that the crossbars would be to wide but they are not. I'm in my 60s and only 5ft tall so getting a kayak on the roof of my car just isn't happening(all the dents and sractches). If you have any thoughts about bying this just do it.

by:

No issues with the trailer and I put it together without help (not bad for a 5’0 woman). Now if I could just learn to back it into the launch lol.

by:

Great trailer for the price I paid and easy to assembly.

  • Kayak Trailer and Kayak Cart Recommendation for a 85 Pound 19-Foot Kayak
For a great option that allows you to transport a kayak up to 20 feet long, I recommend the Malone LowBed MicroSport Trailer - 78" Crossbars # MPG464-LB along with the Yakima BigCatch # Y04091. With the MicroSport trailer, it measures 13' 3" long x 78" wide x 22" tall and is compatible with your 85-pound tandem kayak. Also, with the massive 150-pound weight capacity of the BigCatch, you can rest assured that you have a sturdy and safe setup. The BigCatch also comes with load straps/bow...

  • Recommended Trailer to Carry 2 Kayaks and 2 Bikes
I have a solution for you, but the crossbar spread on the Malone LowBed MicroSport Trailer - 78" # MPG464-LB is going to be too wide to allow you to carry bikes. Most roof rack mounted bike carriers need a crossbar spread no more than 38" apart, and the MicroSport LowBed trailers have a minimum spacing of 44". However, the Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer - 78" # Y08107 can be oriented with a minimum crossbar spread of 36", which is compatible with most roof rack style bike carriers. This...

  • Is Storage Trunk for Malone MicroSport Trailers Compatible With MicroSport LowBed Trailer
I checked with Malone and the Storage Trunk for Malone MicroSport and XtraLight Trailers # MPG481 is not a compatible accessory for the Malone MicroSport LowBed Trailer # MPG464-LB. As you mentioned, the Storage Trunk is compatible with other models, such as the Malone MicroSport Trailer # MPG460G. I have added links to video reviews for you to check out as well.

  • Malone LowBed MicroSport Trailer MPG464-LB Ability To Carry Curvy Kayak On Their Side
The fenders on the Malone LowBed MicroSport Trailer # MPG464-LB are going to sit almost flush with crossbars. Do remember that the height of the Malone FoldAway-J Kayak Carrier # MAL98FR will give you over the top of the crossbars and the fact that the rear crossbar is so close to the fender will reduce the chance of your kayak hitting the fenders. The crossbar spread is also adjustable from 44" to 63" allowing you to be more on the center of the kayak so it will not sit as low on the trailer.

  • Can 3" PVC Mount With Malone Hardware for Hobie Carriers on MicroSport Trailer Carrying Hobie PA 12
The Malone Installation Hardware for Hobie Style Carriers - Qty 6 # MPG5576-6 should only be used to mount Hobie style carriers to your Malone LowBed MicroSport Trailer # MPG464-LB. These will not work with 3" PVC to mount your Hobie PA 12. I recommend getting the cradles specifically made for Hobie and then using the # MPG5576-6 to secure them to the trailer to ensure your fishing kayak is safe and securely mounted.

  • How Do I Ground The White Wire When Assembling A Malone Kayak Trailer
It is odd that the Malone instructions for the trailer # MPG464-LB do not mention connecting the ground anywhere. On a trailer like this, the white wire can be grounded on the steel frame (usually near the tongue) using a self tapping screw # FA1131822 and a ring terminal # DW05737-1. Preferably an out of the way location where it is out of the elements. Make sure it is grounded to good clean metal, free of any corrosion. A bad ground would certainly explain the issue with your lights.

  • Is There A Way To Convert The Malone MicroSport With A High Bed To A Low Bed?
I checked to see if there was conversion kit to convert your Malone high bed trailer to a low bed # MPG464-LB. I know this isn't going to be ideal, but what you can do is reuse the U-bolts from the cross bars you have now, and reattach the cross bars # MPG4001 with an aluminum bar mounted horizontally across the trailer, as shown in the picture attached. I wish there was a simpler and easier solution, but unfortunately there isn't one. As far as backing your trailer into water, you...

  • Can The Yakima Rack And Roll Trailer Be Backed Into Water To Launch A Kayak
Hey Drew, Yakima does not recommend backing the Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer # Y08107 into the water because the bearings are sealed and water could end up ruining the hubs.
