Video Transcript for Review of Durabilt Chain Binders - Ratchet Chain Binder - DU45MR

Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a look at this durable ratcheting chain binder with the grab hooks on each end. And this is for half inch to 5/8 inch size chains, and it has an 18,100 pound working load limit. Now this ratchet chain binder will increase the tension in the chain until it's taut using the twist in your ratcheting mechanism. The ratchet binders are often viewed as a lot safer option because they do not store as much energy in the handle.

So it reduces the risk of recoil and harming the user. And these ratchet binders have the lever and the screw right here on each end that works together. Which means it takes less pulling on the handle to apply tension to the binder. So it's perfect for agricultural industrial tie down applications. I wanted to zoom in and show you the ratcheting mechanism right here.

It's very easy to tension the equipment that we see just by twisting that handle a little tension. And then there's a lever right here to choose the change the ratchet rotation. So if you push down on the lever, then you can wrap it the other way. To go back over there, push it back down, you'll be able to ratchet the other way. So this allows you to safely remove the ratchet binder when you're finished.

Now on each end here, you can see they use the alloy forge 3/8 inch size grab hooks on both ends. This will let you quickly connect to your chains and the bearings right here extend to provide extra reach. You just twist them when you're hooking the binder to equipment. the screw diameter on these is about 1 inch diameter. And when these are totally screwed in, in other words, retracted or closed position, the distance between the cups on each end here is 26 and a half inches.

If we extended all the way out when we measured it it'll be 34 and a half inches. So the take-up length when you unscrew these as about 8 inches, this is a steel construction, it's very durable. You can see it has a nice red paint finish on it, which is highly visible prevents corrosion. And this part does meet or exceed the FMCSA 40, the CHP, CVSA, and the WSTDA, and the DOT department of transportation standards. Application again, for this it's chains with half inch to 5/8 inch thick lengths, the safe working load limit is 18,100 pounds. The proof load limits 36,200 pounds. The handle length from this end to this end. We put a tape measure on it. going to be right it up 15 and a half inches. The barrel length. This portion here is the barrel. So the length of that is going to be right at 10 inches. And the weight on this binder is about 17 pounds. But again, just to show you, once you have these hooked to your chains on each end, and as you turn this, that'll twist it. And then if you need to reverse it just push that lever down and you can reverse it in the opposite direction. But that should do it for the review on the durable ratcheting chain binder with the grab hooks for half inch to 5/8 inch size chains..
