Video Transcript for Review of Diamond Lights - Load Resistors - DI34ZR

Jeff: Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a look at the 50 watt load resister kit for the LED turn signals. It is for a quantity of two resistors. Now these load resistors will prevent hyperflashing on your turn signals with LED bulbs. It's designed to work with most import and domestic vehicles. You can see they are a nice compact design.

They'll fit into tight spaces. These are compatible with 12 volt DC systems. They will surface mount behind your vehicle headlights and the connection plugs are included. The quick connect plugs, which will let you easily connect to your power source. A few specs again, it's two load resistors.

Wattage is 50 watts, electrical resistance is six ohms, and last thing I want to do is just give you dimensions on the resistor. The length on it, right at two inches long. The width, including the mounting brackets, it's right at one and a quarter inches wide. And the overall height of it is right at 11 16ths of an inch tall. But that should do it for the review on the 50 watt load resistor kit for the LED turn signals..

This product fixed my trailer LED light issues while connected to my 2020 Silverado HD. I used 1 of these on each circuit to place proper load on circuit so that the truck would recognize the trailer was connected and allow the lights to function properly.

I wanted to ask how you had installed them? We have a great question on the site that can help. Please see the link below.

The LED tail lights work as expected and easy to install. I didn't need the resistors but will keep them for possible
future needs.

by:

Good transaction, will use again.

Converted recently to LED lights on my 2008 Dodge Ram 2500. Although the manufacturer assured me the LED replacement lights were simple plug-n-play & thus did not need resistors to prevent hyper-flash… WRONG, rear signals did not play well w/ others. Jesse M identified the correct resistor set, shipping was fast & the frustrating hyper-flash eliminated immediately. Thanks Jesse!

Great Service

This is the second set I ordered. I replaced all my lights on my Toyota with LED's and the hyper flash issue came to light. I knew a resistor would work but didn't know exactly what to get. I called and as usual, etrailer was extremely helpful. The customer service lady suggested what to purchase and I did. The resister set arrived early which was wonderful, however in packaging they pretty much weaken the wiring as they fold them over to get them in the clam shell. Both resisters look pretty frail and I fear the wires will break eventually. I went ahead and installed them and unfortunately they only fixed my hazard lights, turn signals still hyper flash. I ordered a second set to put one at each corner. The packaging was the exact same. GGGGRRR. I have not installed these yet but I hope they fix my problem and the wires do not break. The set is affordable but my only complaint about etrailer is the shipping. I have had instances where it's cheaper to keep product then to return it.

by:

It was easy to install the resistor with quick connect clips, I wish there was some instructions with the packaging. I didn't know if it matters what side of resistor was connected to positive. I decided to just install them and fixed my hyper flashing the new led tail lights.

by:

LED Rules!

by:

Took care of the hyper problem.

by:

Quick processing & shipment. Product was also packaged well.

by:

Easy to hookup. Was on time.

  • LED Trailer Light Conversion On 2016 Ford F-250
It is very unlikely that you will need resistors part # DI34ZR when switching over to LED trailer lights because Ford changed their wiring in 2015 that caused several problems including the ones people would have after switching over to LED lights. The best thing to do is install the LED lights first and if you have issues like hyper flashing then you would need the resistors however, it doesn't seem to be an issue anymore because LED draw so little power compared to incandescent. • Troubleshooting Brake Controller Output Pin on 2018 Toyota Tundra
You do not want to add a load resistor like # DI34ZR to your brake controller output wire. Adding an additional power draw on that wire will not help. The load resistors are intended for adding an additional power draw on lighting wires that use LED's because there is a significantly smaller draw from LED's that can cause errors or hyperflashing. Your trailer brake controller output will have the necessary draw on that 5 o'clock pin without any resistors. I recommend checking it by...

  • Are There LED Lights With Built In Resistors Available
I have a solution for you, but none of the LED lights we carry come with built in resistors; in some cases adding a resistor to a trailer with existing LED lights isn't going to be necessary. In situations where hyper-flashing occurs they'd just need to add one into the wiring with the Load Resistor Kit # DI34ZR. These could just be wired in behind an LED light like the Fusion LED Trailer Tail Light - Stop, Tail, Turn, Backup - Submersible - Oval - Red/Clear Lens # STL68RB and allow them...

  • What Prevents HyperFlashing of Trailer Turn Signals When Converting to LED Blinkers
Yes, when switching to LED taillights on a vehicle that will be replacing the turn signal circuits you'll need load resistors like # DI34ZR so that the heat operated flasher unit will flash the blinkers at the correct speed. The other solution is an electric flasher unit which we don't carry. With these you also lose the audible click you hear when the blinker is on.

  • Solution for Error Code Caused by Skull with L.E.D. Eyes Cover on 2022 Ford Edge ST
The reason for the error is the LED in the hitch cover. This has a very low power draw which causes errors in vehicles like your 2022 Ford Edge ST. The only way to fix it is to wire in an aftermarket 4-way like the # HM48030 to bypass the system or add load resistors like # DI34ZR to your stop/turn wires on your 4-way.

If you are getting an error code on your 2018 Ford F-150 when using the Ford LED Lighted Trailer Hitch Cover # CR-007F you will either need to add an aftermarket 4-Way like part # HM48030 to bypass the OEM trailer connector or add load resistors part #DI34ZR to the stop/turn (green and yellow) wires on the cover. For some reason some of the newer Ford pickups have trouble with accessories that have lights and they cause an error message to pop up like what you are experiencing. As of...

The Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit # RM-154 will not be effected by changing your tail lights to LEDs. If your new lights have this issue, then I recommend getting Light Bulb Load-Resistors # DI34ZR which will solve that issue.

  • Troubleshooting Low Voltage to LED Tail Lights and Trailer Lights
It is normal to get LED light function with the ACC mode on your ignition. • Available LED-Type Trailer Lighting to Convert from Incandescent Bulbs
Converting trailer lighting to the LED-type is a great way to both increase visibility and reduce power demand on the vehicle wiring system. LEDs are roughly 10x more energy efficient than incandescent lights. In some cases the trailer turn signal lights will need a load resistor to prevent what is called hyper-flashing (overly fast blinking of the turn signals) but this is something you really have to try to know. The other lighting circuits definitely will not need a load resistor but...

Because the converter box of the 118158 has relays it it, it's not unusual to hear clicking but a loud buzzing noise is not normal. There's two possible causes for the buzzing, and the turn signal issue might or might not be related. Does the trailer have LED lamps? If so, the # 118158 wasn't designed with LED lamps in mind. The buzzing in this case would be caused by not enough power being drawn through the circuits, which could also be a possible cause of the turn signal issue. A poor...

  • Recommended 4-Way Connector Add-On for LED Tail Light Strip on 2022 Ford Maverick
I recommend picking up the Curt T-Connector # C59DR which tees in behind the tail lights on your 2022 Ford Maverick but has a power lead you run to the battery so the 4-Way connector is pulling power straight from the battery as opposed to potentially overloading the OEM wiring circuits. This is a much safer option to splicing in connections because we aren't cutting into the factory wiring, the power is being pulled from the battery so the OEM circuits are unaffected, and the black module...
