Troubleshooting Low Voltage to LED Tail Lights and Trailer Lights
Question:
Re: 1997 Ford F450 When the ignition switch is in the on position and everything else off I am getting about 4 volts to led taillights on my truck as well as all led running lights on my trailer. The incandescent running lights on the truck are not lit. Is this normal? Thanks

It is normal to get LED light function with the ACC mode on your ignition. The LED lights draw far less amperage than incandescent bulbs, so with any power going to the wires they can be illuminated. This is normal for your 1997 Ford F-450. If you do not want them to function in that ACC mode on your ignition and want them to function like the incandescent bulbs, then you will need to install load resistors like the Diamond LED Light Bulb Load-Resistors - Qty 2 # DI34ZR to require a greater voltage to function.
