Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

The box with the hitch arrived yesterday, and I was worried because the box showed damage. I called customer support before opening it, but they reassured me that it would be okay to accept the package and to open it up. All the pieces were there, no problem, except that the label showing the ratings is damaged.
Installation was a snap, made especially so by the little fish-wire-spring things that were included in the parts bag. Whoever thought that up was a genius! I'm in my 60s, not very limber, so it took me about an hour and a half to get it done, but the hitch is a perfect fit, all the pieces were included, the instructions are plain and easy to follow, and the hitch looks to be high quality. The only gotcha (very minor) was I had to file a bit off the heads of the carriage bolts in order to fit them through the access hole in the frame.

2001 Chrysler Town and Country

We ordered the hidden hitch for "Goldy," our 2001 Chrysler Town and Country Conversion (the extended roof with wood interior, mood lighting video, video game and audio inputs and outputs galore, TV, DVD etc.) minivan.

We ordered the hitch and it was here in a couple days! My Father-In-Law and I put it on together. We only had basic cheap hand tools and a pair of metal car ramps. From backing "Goldy" up onto the ramps to pulling her back down complete was just over two hours, and that included a lunch break in between--thanks to the excellent videos that ETrailer.com have.

The only part that gave us a little trouble was fishing the plates and bolts to the rear holes. In my opinion, the fish cables should have been four to six inches longer. They worked, but it was a little trying.

Everything else was SIMPLE, fast and pretty easy. We DID remove the rear bumper to try to see better, but it was not necessary, as it only half-way helped.

We will order from ETrailer.com again and again in the future for all of our towing needs.

Next up--the wiring harness. We'll probably order it on Monday (today is Saturday) and have it arrive and installed way way before the weekend.

2002 Dodge Grand Caravan

Perfect fit. Video was very helpful in anticipating installation, which was very straight forward. Loved that special tool for pulling bolts though the frame and down through the mounting holes. Hitch works great; pulled our trailer with zero turn mower and could not be happier with the hitch, but especially with the service, follow-up and video. Outstanding service, product fit and installation

The hitch went right on after opening the holes to put the bolts into the frame. Start to finish took 1.5 hrs. I installed the hitch by myself. Time included getting out tools and clean up.

Your delivery was on time and packaging was excellent protecting the parts. Everything was great looking as I now expect from eTrailer. I am very pleased with the finished install as shown in the photos attached.

Jeep Cherokee

Installation went well and everything fit nicely. Wiring a bit of a hassle but this is my 4th car/hitch installation. (Jeep Cherokee Sport, KIA Soul, Toyota corolla, and now the mothership (2003 Town & Country Van)

My ongoing disappointment is almost everyone seems to rust and seize where the hitch tube goes into the receiver. Unless you lube and baby these things either the dissimilar metals or the road water/snow and salt or whatever violates the finish/paint or it just breaks down and rots.

Now after one season and a year. This thing is ONE PIECE and seized solid.

It is a good idea to remove the ballmount or hitch mounted accessory when it is not being used and apply a thin coat of grease to the shank of the hitch mounted accessory in order make installation and removal easier.

Great, sold vehicle and jsut bought another eteailer unit for a RAV 4. A little fit problem me and Sister Sledge resolved. All done now.

Very well built product an installation was a breeze. Bought this as Christmas present for Mom so she would be able to use her mobility scooter more places than just at home. I think it took about an 1 1/2 to install but that included travel time to and back from moms home to my garage. Very pleased with value of this hitch.

Product seems well built and fit perfectly. Installation instructions did not apply to my vehicle. Not sure how they expected it to bolt up according to the instructions. With a little engineering I was able to make it work.

The service was great, received the trailer hitch ..(ITEM NUMBER 75119) with no problem...and TIM was very Helpful...
the only issue I have is the set of instructions are very vague about installation....the vewry first step in the instructions states I need to remove the 2 front bumper bolts...Is this a mistake or what are they talking about....are their any more detailed instructions available or a video

The middle bolt location on the driver and passenger side shown in the instructions is the front bumper bolt. This bolt is removed, and the double-ended stud is installed in its place. Then the rear bumper bolt the rear-most hitch attachment point shown in the instruction diagram can then be safely removed and the hitch installed. If the front and rear bolts are removed at the same time without installing the stud, the bumper could come loose, which could be dangerous.Ill link you to install videos for a 2003 and a 2007 model year Grand Caravan, which should make the procedure clearer for you.

The Draw-Tite trailer hitch exactly fit my '07 Dodge Caravan. The written instructions were spot on and the video offered a perfect compliment. It was a great aid to be able to take my laptop under the van and do the hands-on work while following the visual.
Every bolt hole and hitch configuration aligned perfectly with the van's frame and undercarriage. This was essential when working solo and using concrete blocks for an extra pair of hands while aligning this beefy hitch. Keep up the great work and accept my heartfelt thank you for staying on the job during these trying times. Kind regards.

by:

This was the cheapest and complete set up to install! I couldn't find any other trailer hitch that came with everything needed for the install! Easy to follow instructions and install! No need to buy bolts or welding! Fit was perfect! Pulls like a champ!

by:

This hitch receiver was AWESOME!! Just used it to pull the big U-Haul trailer from Laramie WY, to Portland OR, and it stood up to the challenge incredibly well. I seriously can't say enough good things about this receiver! Very, very pleased!!!

FYI - Turn over the 5-1/4" hitch so it bends upward for use on a minivan. We also used the 2" chrome ball.

by:

The hitch arrived very quickly. The most difficult part of the project was removing one of the bolts attaching the bumper. I sprayed a penetrant days prior and when I used my pneumatic wrench the bolt turned a quarter turn and stopped. I used my map gas torch to heat the nut and little by little the bolt came out. I had to reheat the nut a few times and used the pneumatic wrench each time.
When I reinstalled the bolts I applied an antiseize compound and the bolts went in very easy.
I agree with one of the reviews about the length of the snake it could be a little longer. Also, I purchased 4 lock washers too bad it doesn't come with the kit. Otherwise a great product. I would advise if using the hitch for cargo or bike carrier, purchase the J pin.

2003 Dodge Grand Caravan

I just had my Hidden Hitch installed on my 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan. It fit perfect and looks great.

by:
Chrysler Town & Country

The hitch fit my Chrysler T&C well. Plenty of clearance for the spare tire and the socket is just below the bumper and flush with the rear of the bumper. Perfect fit. You'd have to lie on the ground to see anything more than the receiver of the hitch; everything else is hidden. The only difficulty installing was the plastic parts of the bumper that partially cover the space where the carriage bolts are to be inserted. I used a step bit to enlarge two round holes in the frame to get them in and that mod made it a breeze to insert the bolts. The holes lined up just as they should. I managed to mount the pos REESE hitch from the auto parts store on my Dodge pickup so nothing was wasted. If I need another hitch I go the e-trailer first.

Very impressed with the assembly. Only "nail-biter" was fishing the bolts into the chassis tubes. Long skinny fingers would have helped!!! I am a cheap money-miser but i feel satisified with this investment. I will recommend this product to my other "cheaps", as we all hang in a flock! I studied this hitch thing for over 3 weeks and selected this product. SAVE TIME and buy NOW!!! Mr. Ken ...(sorry for no pictures but i still use a $15.00 flip-phone.)

by:

The spare tire and bracket thankfully haven’t had to be used.

However, the trailer hitch I purchased several years ago (2008) is working flawlessly!

Thanks for checking.

I think its more like 3 or 4 years since installing the hitch and it has been a great asset to my 2009 minivan. I tow a boat and utility trailers occasionally, and just this week rented a stump grinder that came on a good sized trailer. Its a sturdy hitch and still in good shape.

2007 Lincoln Navigator

etrailer.com is ......Excellent !! ... Would highly recommend.
Everything arrived quickly and fit.
Installed on a 2007 Chrysler T&C.
The only Problems that I experienced were that the bumper mounting bolts required a breaker bar and some liquid wrench to get them removed. Also when fishing the mounting bolts through the vehicles frame channel, it has a hard plastic piece blocking the channel that the bolts must go through. I had to bend this out of the way, but the space to do this is extremely limited.
It was real nice having the 4 wires to help with this task.

The wheel mount Swagman XC worked great for two TREK Navigator bikes...very happy with this product so far.

etrailer provides excellent service!!!!! For complicated reasons, I have recently ordered 2 trailer hitches. They shipped the same day I called - yes, I spoke to a live person, did not wait on hold. Each time they were able to answer questions and make recommendations.

I highly recommend doing business with etrailer.com

1999 Plymouth Voyager

Excellent product. Only hard part was drilling (2) 7/16" holes in the frame of the van for 2 of the 6 mounting bolts, which I had to do because I have a 1999 Voyager rather than one of the later models which already has the holes drilled.

2003 Dodge Grand Caravan

Good product. This hitch receiver fit right up to my 2003 Dodge Caravan. E-trailer shipped this product super fast (and I didn't opt for expedited shipping)!
Just an extra install tip . . . Since there are 4 snake wires provided, I recommend leaving these threaded to the each bolt until just before the nut is to be threaded on to the bolt. That way, if the bolts do get pushed back up into the vehicle frame, they can be easily retrieved again. The snake wires do not need to be unthreaded, they can be just yanked off with a little bit of circle action as the wire is pulled. As is mentioned in the video, a second body will make the lifting, holding, and securing the hitch much easier.

  • Trailer Hitch Mounted Platform Style 2 Bike Rack for a 2001 Dodge Caravan
You'll be looking at adding a trailer hitch receiver and what's called a "Platform Style Rack" to your vehicle. If you don't already have a hitch, you'll want to install one to start.
