Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2"

I bought this after years of struggling to get a race trailer in the backyard. When I decided to move it about 12 feet to the right, I knew there was no way my F350 4X4 crew-cab could make the tight turns that would be required. After being able to position it on the first try, I realized I should have bought it 20 years ago.

The installation took two tries. Not sure if it because I’m 66 or trying to do it by myself. The key for me was to hook a couple of straps to it, unbolt it, and then put the bumper on the engine compartment. The first attempt was by trying to do everything from the backside. Once I removed the bumper completely, I was able to do everything from the from, so I was not completely blind in installing the two side bolts. The straps not only made it easier to reinstall it, they were useful in pulling up on side to level it.

I should have done this when I first bought the truck.

Package shipped and arrived quickly. Install was relatively easy, but took longer as the bolts were actually larger (7/8") - and I did not have a shallow socket for it that was also 1/2" drive for my torque wrench. I also needed remove the grill cover to have enough throw to tighten back on the bumper after the hitch was bolted on (which blocked access from the bottom). I would recommend getting some 9/16" shank carriage bolts to help align and secure the front flange while tightening the sides to the frame. I used a floor jack on level pavement to raise the hitch into position.

Overall - it looks great and functions well. Very stout and strongly built with superb welds and finish. This will make getting smaller trailers into tight spaces MUCH more easier and less of a headache/embarrassment. Plus it's also another point for recovery as an option for 4x4 or overlanding, and I also added a step to the front of it which makes accessing the back of the engine bay easier.1717408

Very stout, heavy duty material. However, I had to make a modification, though I don't think it will affect the integrity of the hitch, not as a motorcycle carrier. I added an after market intercooler to my 1996 F530 at the same time I was adding this receiver. Unfortunately the receiver was not designed to accommodate an intercooler. I had to cut a notch on each side of the hitch receiver mounting brackets and run the side bolts the opposite direction as shown in the instructions. After a bit of work with the angle grinder and some fresh paint, everything fit very well together. Without the intercooler, no modifications would have been needed and would have fit like a glove.782725

First your tech assistance was great, was able to verify this is the right hitch to fit my truck, you really don't want to crawl under a truck and find out its the wrong configuration. Second, the shipping was fast, I will rate that as (four stars). Third and most important, the hitch was the easiest to install, it took me approx. 40 min. Thanks guys. Very easy to install. Can be done by one person but a second person is good to have around. I love this hitch. The price is great, shipping was free and it has saved me a lot of time moving things around in my shop. I have a ski boat and a bass boat. When pushing the boats back into the shop, the boat is more responsive to steering inputs allowing me to put it in tight areas quicker. Having the hitch up front lets me see what I'm doing better and it allows me to move things without a spotter if one is not available. Highly Recommended. 115036

Disappointment with the mounting hardware. The inventory list clearly describes the necessary hex bolts yet the packaging contained carriage bolts that cannot be tightened without a square punched hole in the frame rail instead of the drilled, round hole from the factory. If you buy this, plan on a trip to the hardware store and about $20 to get the necessary bolts. 103759

It sounds like the hardware packaged with the hitch from Curt was wrong. You should have received hex head bolts, not carriage bolts. As always, we can get the proper hardware to our customers, just let us know. We will be in touch.

Ford F-350 Super Duty

Excellent quality front hitch. Very stout. I ordered this front hitch to make my
93' F-350 more versatile. This allows me to use any receiver mounted attachments, like a portable electric winch, bike rack, motorcycle rack, support spar for roof carried boat, etc. It's also a great front anchor point to attach a tow strap or cable for pulling out folks who are stuck in the road in front of me without me having to turn around or try to go around them. Very pleased! Quick shipping and the hitch fit well.
Only problem (on Ford, NOT etrailer!) was that several of the bolts/nuts were hard to torque due to the positioning of the holes. Do-able but it took a while!
I've purchased several other hitches from etrailer and never any problems!
