This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area on the driver's side. You will have to remove the spare tire, storage covers, and some interior paneling to access this harness.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in your rear cargo area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Today we're going to review part number 31235, this is the Hopkins Plug-N-Tow Vehicle Wiring Harness, with the 4-way Flat Trailer Connector. This is a custom fit part, it is designed to fit the 2005 to 2006 Chevrolet Equinox and the 2006 Pontiac Torrent. Now on any custom fit part what I always recommend to do is go to our website, use our fit guide put in your year and model vehicle and it'll show you if this will work for your application. Now this part will provide a 4-way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights. The plug-n-tow wiring connectors provide a no hassle quick and easy way to wire your vehicle, they just plug in. Each vehicle specific connector is pre-wired, it uses the original OEM connectors to give you water tight protection, a guaranteed fit and also a good look. It is a powered converter. It has a weatherproofed double molded design, so it holds up really well. The thing you do want to is you notice it has a piece of double sided tape on it. Once you get your connections made you do want to attach this. Pull this piece off and attach this to a good flat surface so this converter doesn't bounce around.
When you install it there's no cutting and splicing wires. Most of the wires they use in here are a 16 gauge wire. On the 4-way end you can see it includes this nice dust cap, so when you're not plugged into the trailer you can just put that dust cap over the terminals to protect it from any damage or from the elements. It does come with some easy instructions with pictures. Now each kit includes everything shown here that's on the table. It's everything you need to complete your installation.
It gives you a package of dielectric grease which you want to put on all your electrical connections before you plug them in together, that helps reduce any rust or corrosion. It gives you a couple cable ties to take up any excess wire you might need to get out of the way. Basically your connection point for this connector right here is located behind the jack in the jack storage compartment. What you want to do is plug that in til it hooks up. Again I mention attach this to a nice surface so it doesn't move around. Then the 4-way has a length of wire this actually would be routed underneath the spare, in the spare tire well.
You can go underneath the spare tire and you can see it has a grommet mounted on this. This would go in place of the drain plug grommet that's in the car already so this could attach right in there. Then this will run out to the center of the vehicle so you'll be able to plug it into your trailer. That should do it for the review on part number 31235. I really like how easy it was to install. Basically plug and play.
harness pluged in good and gromet fit right but the trailer plug only makes it to the edge of the hitch I will have to buy an extension to use this this needs to be about 18 inches longer to work right

This is a high quality product that looks factory install. Cost a little bit more than the others harness but worth the money if you like to do things the right way
Easy install, took me 5 minutes to have 4 pole end outside of vehicle and next to hitch.

Very simple to install. It took only 10 minutes for me to complete. instructional video was very helpfull. I spent less time installing than it would have to drive across town for somone else to do.
