I probably would have rated this 5 stars if the trailer hitch I have on my Jeep now was the first I received. The first one was not manufactured correctly (we realized two hours into a 45 minute install). The customer service representative put me through unnecessary hoops (measure it, email photos etc) until after about three days she told me I had to contact the manufacturer directly. Which I did. Unfortunately for me the replacement hitch was 'lost' en-route at the Atlanta sorting facility. Now this is almost 4 weeks after the initial order. I called the manufacturer and was almost immediately in a 3 way call with USPS trying to track the missing shipment. Meanwhile I had emailed my concerns about the lack of customer service I had received from etrailer and was receiving calls and emails with offers of overnight hitch replacement. Apparently the original customer service representative was no longer there. I was offered apologies and was informed my concerns should NEVER have been handled the way they were . I went from bad hitch to no hitch to many hitch offers. In the end we successfully installed the hitch and I got to pull my camper. On second thought I'm changing it to 5 stars. Both Curt and etrailer showed out when they needed to!

Took about an hour counting getting the old bolts out and cleaning threads on the Jeep. The hitch fit perfect. It'a a very well made quality product. I would advise having a helper to hold it up until a couple of bolts are in. My grandson helped me.
I needed this hitch for a bike rack and an occasional trailer hookup. Haven't hooked the electrics yet.

2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I drive a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee and ordered this product to install on it.
The product itself looks and works great.

Unfortunately, installing the product was well over a 40 minute install time. The problem was that the mounting brackets did not align with the bolt holes. After discussing with the issue with etrailer, I was told the bracket could flex or be bent out of place during shipping and they need to be bent back into the right position. The company does have a guide on different ways to perform this if you need to. After a few attempts of bending and adjusting alignment with one side attached, I managed to get the brackets to align with the bolt holes. This resulted is an installation time of a few hours at least. If the product came with the brackets correctly aligned this would have been a quick 40 minute installation but that was simply not the case.

Once the hitch was on the Jeep, it looks great and was good to go.

Great hitch for my 2002 WJ. Easy bolt-on installation to existing frame holes. I haven't towed any trailers (and don't plan to), but it has been useful for recovering other vehicles off-road.

Great product, easy installation with clear instructions.

I was looking for a tow hitch so I could load up my dirtbike on a hitch carrier and this one fit the bill!

Plus it looks great and fits great too!

Curt 13051 is a great hitch, bolted right up as described in directions and on the install video provided by etrailer.com. Thanks for providing a great product, great price and how-to help for the average guy. Here is a pic on my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Thanks eTrailer.com

by:

Very easy to install. It only took about 20-25 minutes. And that was with me having difficulty trying to thread the rear most bolts in because the threads within the frame were rusted so it was hard to hand tighten it so I sent it and impacted those mofo’s in. Very good design and I’m glad I went with this trailer hitch receiver.

by:

My first order from etrailer, but definitely not my last!! I wish all companies were this well put together. The trailer hitch was just as quality, and had it fully installed within 30min with some help from my wife!! The entire team should be proud of how they run this company - A+ guys/gals!!

by:

Delivered sooner then expected, great packaging, bolts and spacers fit perfect, and the alignment for bolts was perfect. I did have to cut out a little piece out of plastic on bumper to reach the back bolts, but can't even notice that. I would definitely order from them in the future. 2000 jeep grand cherokee

Thanks for the great service in getting me the Curt hitch for my Jeep yesterday. It fit great. I installed it by myself today in about an hour using a floor jack - it would have been a little easier and quicker with a helper :-)

Here's a photo of my first load. Thanks again!

The instrutional video for the hitch was very helpful and made the installation easy. The web site is very user friendly and the product exceeded all my expectation. I also received the hitch sooner that expected. I will recommend this company to anyone who is looking for parts. Thanks.

2001 Jeep Cherokee

GREAT website and EASY to navigate to the right part needed! Cheaper prices than I could find on E-Bay too! LOVE THIS COMPANY!!

I recently decided to get a new hitch for my 2001 Grand Jeep Cherokee so I started searching on E-bay and found one for a 2001 Jeep Cherokee and ordered it. (FROM ANOTHER COMPANY) Notice I said it was for a Jeep Cherokee. I didn't know that a Grand Jeep Cherokee and a Jeep Cherokee are two different style vehicles so I ended up with the wrong hitch. The order process was confusing. Once that part came in I realized it did not fit and while the company offered me a full refund IF I paid to ship it back I decided to try to sell it on Craigslist as shipping for something that heavy would be a lot!

That's when I decided to try to find somewhere else to buy the hitch from and found Etrailer.com. As I said, VERY easy to pick the correct part for the right vehicle, GREAT prices, and quick service! Very happy customer!

One year later the hitch it just like new! It is built to last and I love it and use it often! I have never had a problem with it at all. It still looks great and works great!

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I ordered the hitch on a Friday and it was delivered on Wednesday the following week. Install was simple and straightforward. It did say two people were required but myself and a floor jack got it done in about an hour with hand tools as I don't have a compressor, just mechanically knowledgeable.
The pigtail wiring harness was also a quick install, took me less than 15 minutes.

Thank you for the great products, great prices, and free shipping.

I still use them. In fact, I bought a new mower last month that required a large trailer. It pulled it with no issues.

by:

The hitch has worked very well, installation was not too hard I was able to do all myself. The only problem encountered, was trying to hook up the trailer electrical for the trailer. I used a four wire harness, but still can't get the stop light to work, I understand that part is not your problem. The hitch works great. Thanks

The fix for your issue will depend on the wiring harness you are using. You wont be able to wire a 4 pin connector directly into the vehicle. A taillight converter is needed like part # C55369. It might also be possible that there is a blown fuse.

Bought for 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee to trailer my boat. Had a repair shop install for $30.00. They had no problems. Hitch looks like a factory install & is less expensive. Arrived on time & company had excellent sales staff that answered all my questions.

This receiver conversion kit is a great tool for my jeep. I now have a way to tow all my toys and work items. Thank you for sending it so quickly. I will tell everyone I know to purchase from your company.

2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Product availability, prompt delivery after easy ordering and part fit and function were all excellent. I need to do some troubleshooting to find out if the quick connect electronic module for my jeep has malfunctioned or if it is the trailer wiring that causes the R/H running light to function intermittently. Could very well be the trailer... Other than that, the hitch itself, ordering process, installation and price were exceptional. We towed our tent trailer for about 2000 miles without any concerns.

  • Options for Carrying Two Bikes with 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
There are two options for carrying bikes on the rear of your 2003 Grand Cherokee, a trunk mount and a hitch mounted option. The trunk mount would attach to the liftgate of the vehicle. Of the various trunk mounted options that are available for your Grand Cherokee (see link), I would recommend the Thule OutWay, part # TH45JV. While most trunk mounted bike racks use 6 straps that need to be adjusted each time the rack is installed or removed, the OutWay uses only 2 rubber coated straps...

If you're going to be towing with this hitch and don't have the towing package, you can use the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C55369...
