Trailer Wiring Harness for a 2012 Lexus RX 350
Question:
What is the most simple connectors can I use for trailer lights for this vehicle that is not tow ready, i.e. no towing package? Thanks ps I saw the one that has a seperate power feed to the battery and was hoping this was not necessary

You are going to need a trailer wiring harness that requires a separate connection to the vehicle battery, # 118478. The purpose of the power wire is to actually power the trailer lights. This adds another layer of circuit protection between the trailer wiring and vehicle wiring. The wiring on the vehicle is not designed for the extra load of the trailer lights and could damage the vehicle wiring; something you do not want to happen.
Routing the power wire is easy, it just takes time. I have included a link to a help article I wrote that has tips on routing the power wire. I also linked a video showing installation of the wiring harness.
