Hitch Alignment Made Easy

The Swift Hitch camera and monitor make it easy to hook-up your trailer

The Swift Hitch aligner gives you a second pair of eyes so you can quickly align your vehicle's hitch ball with your trailer's coupler. It eliminates trailer hookup headaches like getting in and out of your vehicle, relying on a spotter, and accidental collision. The camera wirelessly transmits video to the hand-held monitor, and both are battery powered - which means no complicated wiring is needed for installation. And the camera's place-and-point design lets you reposition it for each job.

Place the Swift Hitch camera on your tailgate and watch the monitor from your cab as you back-up

Using the system is easy. Attach the camera to your tailgate - the magnetic base makes it simple to place the camera wherever you need it - and point it at your hitch ball. Hop in the driver's seat, and use the monitor to watch your progress as you back up your vehicle. No getting out of the truck to check, no deciphering the hand signals of your significant other, and no running out of patience. Once the hitch ball and coupler are aligned, all that's left to do is hookup and hit the road.

For gooseneck and fifth-wheel trailers, attach the camera to the back of your cab for a helpful look into the bed of your truck as you back up to the trailer.

Not only can the Swift Hitch be used when hitching up, but it is also great for hooking up snowplow blades, for use as a backup camera, and for monitoring a variety of areas around your home, farm, or jobsite.

Night Vision Camera with 4-Hour Battery Life

The camera's 4-hour battery life gives you plenty of time to complete the job. The camera sends images to the monitor from up to 300' away and gives you a targeted, 55-degree viewing angle (horizontal and vertical).

Swift Hitch SH01 night vision camera with 4-hour battery

Seven infrared lights surround the camera lens to provide up to 15' of night vision so you can get the job done in the dark. Night vision automatically activates in dim or dark conditions and turns off when lighting improves. When the camera is using night vision, images are displayed in black and white on the monitor.

Rear view of the Swift Hitch SH01 camera

The back of the camera has an antenna, an on/off button, an LED light, and a jack for the charging cable. The LED light changes color to signal when the camera is on (green), when it's charging while the power is on (yellow), and when it's charging while the power is off (red).

Place-and-Point Design

The Swift Hitch SH01 camera has a magnetic base that attaches to your tailgate

Setting up the camera is as fast as place and point. First, place the camera's strong magnetic base on a metal surface. The magnetic base lets you easily remove and reposition the camera depending on the job - unlike a backup camera that's permanently mounted at the rear of your vehicle. Plus, the base has a smooth, non-scratch nylon backing.

The Swift Hitch SH01 camera has a rotating stem

Next, point the camera at your hitch ball or target. A stem with a rotating ball joint sits between the camera and the magnetic base. The stem smoothly rotates 360 degrees, allowing the camera to be pointed in any direction and hold its position. For some applications, such as monitoring horses inside an enclosed trailer, the camera can be mounted semi-permanently. Pre-drilled holes in the magnetic base let you mount the camera using two 1/8" screws or bolts with wing nuts (not included).

Durable Construction

The Swift Hitch camera is constructed with durability in mind. The body, stem, and base are made of durable, rustproof aluminum, and the exterior has a UV-resistant coat of bright yellow paint.

A clear plastic cap protects the rear of the Swift Hitch SH01 camera from water

A clear plastic cap is included to protect the camera's rear end from rain or other inclement weather, particularly when the lens is pointed at your hitch ball. The cap fits snugly onto the back of the camera. The on/off button can be pressed while the cap is on, but the cap will have to be removed when you want to plug in the charging cable.

Hand-Held Monitor with Full-Color LCD Screen

The Swift Hitch SH01 hand-held monitor

The hand-held monitor features a 2-1/2", high-resolution LCD screen that displays crisp, clear full-color pictures (images appear in black and white while camera is operating in night vision). Video is displayed in mirror image by default to give you the same viewpoint as your rearview mirror, but this setting can be switched to non-mirror image if you prefer. The monitor has a battery life of up to 4 hours when fully charged. It is recommended that the monitor battery be fully charged before first use.

To turn the monitor on or off, hold down the button on the front for 3 - 5 seconds. To switch the display from mirror-image view to non-mirror-image view, press the button quickly. An LED indicator light changes color to signal when the monitor is on (green), when it's charging while the power is on (yellow), and when it's charging while the power is off (red). The light flashes when the unit is in the non-mirror-image setting so you know what perspective you've got on the display.

The included video-out cable plugs into the side of the monitor so that you can transfer images to a larger screen or a recording device.

The Swift Hitch SH01 monitor mounted to a dash

The lightweight, durable plastic unit has a contoured shape so that it is easy to hold in one hand. For dash mounting, two 7/8" hook-and-loop strips (similar to Velcro) with adhesive backing are included. Or you can use the Swift Hitch windshield mount kit (sold separately) to keep the monitor easily within view.

Wireless, Portable System

This portable, completely wireless system is simple to set up and convenient to use. It does not need to be hardwired to your vehicle, nor does it rely on your vehicle's battery to work. Instead, it uses radio frequency to transmit video from the camera to the monitor and it is powered by rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. There's no permanent installation or drilling required, so the system can go anywhere you go - from the jobsite to the campsite, from your work truck to your SUV.

The Swift Hitch SH01 camera, monitor, and included charging cable

The included 12-volt DC cable lets you charge both units simultaneously. An AC-to-DC adapter (sold separately) can be used to charge the system from a 110-volt AC wall outlet.

This was a pretty good back up camera. The magnetic base was helpful in keeping it in place. The screen was fairly clear but occasionally had some interference which caused lines across the screen. Sadly it was stolen recently.

by:

Worked exactly as advertised, My first attempt to hook up to trailer went perfect. There was some distortion in the picture when the truck first started, but it cleared up pretty quickly. I Can't speak to battery life or product longevity since I just purchased, but hopefully will get good service from the device.

by:

The product works great but Im a trucker and when I bought it it was to put behind my trailer to see when backing up, but on the product description it said it can be 100's of feet and still have a signal but that is not the case.

by:

The concept is great. The camera adjustability is really good. It is versatile and works.
It does not have much range and reception is sketchy. I put it above bumper on an 8’ pickup and it has poor reception. To work well I put it on top of tailgate and I still has a little static. I’m using the unit and it’s very useful. If reception was better it could be a great unit. Thanks

I am wondering if it is picking up interference from an in-vehicle internet or Bluetooth connection. Would it be possible to turn all these types of connections when using the camera to back up to your trailer and see if that helps.

by:

Camera and screen work great. I use it use it for hitching up my camer and boat. And i've used for more then just my hitch.
It has also been great to use on the back of our 31' camper, when I attach it to my bumper. It only takes a couple of times to get the hang of things. Screen is easy to see and camera has strong magnetic base, with a good field of view. Glad I got it and have recommended it to friends.

Excellent. It still works great.

by:

I would like to say your product is great does just what I need. The company I work for pulls campers to natural gas well sites to act as mobile offices and sleeping quarters in remote areas.I do not have the time to get out of the truck 20 times to see if I'm lined up with a trailer to hook up. The night vision is great to because alot of times it is very dark on a site where the trailers are parked and I can go in the dead of night not worrying about how to hook up in the dark. Thank you very much for this product and a great customer service staff!!!

by:

GREAT, I use this 5x per week Up in Idaho. Probably 250+ times in the last year. I haven’t charged it in the last 4 months. I turn on both units, slap the camera on back of F350, hook up, turn off both units quickly. Charging is simple, it’s just a cord to car cigarette lighter. But if you minimize time on it lasts several months of daily hookups.

This camera & monitor is a must for people who tow regularly.

Once again, I use it daily and haven’t charged it in 4 months! Turn them on, use them, turn them off. Great product.

Update after 2 years. Haven’t charged it in 8+ months and it works about once per week just fine for 2 minutes. Amazing product.

by:

I’ve used this product for over ten years and it finally gave up its invaluable for connecting my trailer and also backing into a tight spot with the trailer

by:

Makes hooking up my trailer much easier by myself.

by:

Ordered it great price works great hopefully this helps others to get this much needed when you have a big travel trailer I'm got here in record time

Swift Hitch Wireless back up camera was ordered right from our camp site in Ocean City, MD based on camper recommendation. Rec'd at site within 3 days. Everything about unit is great except distance from truch hitch to RV ball/hitch NOT far enough to say a perfect unit. Cameras field of view is a little narrow but if one backs up slow, corection(s) can be made in time to get it right on first or second try. Saved my marriage.....don't need her help/yelling anymore! Unit does work great at night also. I hold small monitor in my hand as I am looking back. Well constructed and company representative very helpful on ordering. Great company/service and good back up camera.

Saved my marriage... Good one - I know exactly what your talking about. I laugh everytime I think about it.

by:

Perfect for hooking up my 5th wheel!

by:

The pros: Has worked flawlessly since purchased. Very useful and made a nuisance chore connecting to my trailers quite easy once you visually gaged the depth of the hitch ball in relation to the trailer tongue a few times. Nice product. Good picture day or night.
The cons: A little pricey. I'm thinking most people wouldn't shell out this kind of money. Camera magnet could be stronger but works.

In a nutshell....good job and would recommend to my friends and have.

Great despite being left in the rain. Receiver screen was all fogged up and was afraid to charge it. Put in a bag of rice for a week. Charged now and still working great!

by:

This is my second Swift Hitch. I not only use the system to hook up but also I am a sound engineer. I use the system to look under stage floors and such to discover how wiring may be done. This unit can see in the dark better than the naked eye. Great piece of gear. Well made and works.

I still use the Swift Hitch as a valuable tool. The thing is just great for the purpose it was designed as well as many other tasks. The only negative I have is the receiver battery will drain down in about a week if left in the unit even if it is not turned on. I just take the battery out after each use. I now charge the battery every two months even if it is still working.I would recommend the unit and if lost I would replace it with another Swift Hitch.

by:

Great little camara for the money. Added my own tablet as monitor for some applications. You can also mount a bigger magnetic plate and use suction cups. Like the night mode. Hats off to Pat C. At etrailer for same day shipping. Great service and free shipping. Thanks. Clay

Great. As others have said, charge both units first. Really comes in handy for many uses. I pull 10 ton goose neck and pintle. Camara works great. Metal barn does effect somewhat but still works. Not sure how long battery will last, good so far.

by:

A co-worker and I purchased the Swift hitch together in late January 2013 because I thought it was a little pricey. We work for an agricultural business that deals with trucking of grain and fertilizer. We wanted a camera system to use when loading our trucks with grain. We needed a system that was portable, wireless, and all around simple. The swift hitch was the right choice. We use it almost every day. As with everything, there are of course pros and cons.

Pros:
Easy to operate, Night vision works spectacular, monitor fits in your pocket, rechargeable, magnet is a good idea, charge both units with one cord=smart thinking, multitude of uses. All around handy to have.

Cons:
magnet is no way near strong enough, screen is hard to see (its like a mirror), 300' range? yeah right maybe in an open field. realistically 50-75 ft, battery life could be a little longer, needs a low battery indicator.

From using the swift hitch extensively I've made a few observations. Outside in 30 F temps battery life only lasted about an hour. When the battery does start to run down, the screen starts to get fuzzy and lines in it. I thought the camera was broke. Didn't realize the battery was going dead. Especially when the ad claims it last 3-4 hours and it had only been 1. This is why I feel there should be some kind of low battery indicator. The longest I have gotten the battery to last has been 2.5 hours. And that was starting with a full charge. Expect a 2 hour useable battery life.

As mentioned above, the range is no where near 300'. I know in the description it says that obstructions will reduce the distance. I didn't think it would be that big of a reduction though. Even in an open field I would be skeptical that the swift hitch would even perform at 200' let alone 300'. The furthest I have tested it was close to 150'. I know it was this far because the camera was two semi truck lengths away. Our trucks are around 70' long and with a space in between of probably 10-15'. The camera had lines in it and was fuzzy. But I could still see what was on the screen.

Also I have zip tied a much larger magnet onto the bottom of the camera to help hold it in place. Works great. I can hang it anywhere, anyway, and on things that vibrate or shake. The magnet is a good idea but needs to be stronger. Maybe some kind of clamp as an option would be a good idea too? Just a thought.

I mentioned the screen was hard to see. Yeah I know its only a 2.5 inch screen. I'm not saying its to small. There is some type of glare that makes it look like your looking into a mirror. On sunny days its near impossible to see the screen. It does however work good enough where you can see whats going on.

The night vision works great. I've only used it maybe 5 times and it was superb. A very ingenious feature. I like the monitor being able to fit in my pocket also. I can whip it out, check whatever it is I'm watching ,and put it away leaving my hands free to do whatever. Clever design.

I've given this product 4 stars because its not perfect and there is room for improvement. I didn't feel like I was getting $200 worth. If these small things were corrected I would say 5 stars in a heart beat.

I've used this product probably 100+ times. If not more. Its simple and effective but not cheap. Sure beats me getting in and out of my truck and climbing up and down off of my trailer 37 times each time I load my truck. I set it up when I'm trying to position my dump trailer to unload into a small pit. I put it on the rear of my trailer when I'm backing so I know when to stop and so I don't run into something that may be in my blind spot. When I hook my semi truck to my trailer I use it to line up my fifth wheel plate to the pin perfectly the first time every time. The possibilities are endless when it comes to uses. Anywhere you need an extra set of eyes, the swift hitch works good. I can load my truck with precision and not have to worry about falling off my trailer as I'm climbing up and down those 37 times. I've reduced that to 2 times. This product just makes life so much easier. Like another customer wrote, "should have bought one years ago". I couldn't agree more.

by:

Works great never had a problem makes hooking up to camper and boat without a spotter much easier. Don't have to get out of the truck 10 times and don't worry about backing into the trailer.

Still working same as new took some time to learn exactly how far to back up for perfect alignment. Very happy with product no problems

by:

It saves me from getting in and out of my truck when hooking my trailer but it takes getting used to because of the angle of the camera. So it makes it a little difficult to line up perfectly underneath the hitch. Also the camera and or screen picks up electrical interference, possibly from the ignition of the vehicle, so the screen isn't clear until you position the screen in a way where the interference seems to subside. So you have to wait a lot for the interference to lessen to see clearly to back up. It will scratch your paint when attaching and removing the camera but if you put a slim piece of paper under the mount like I do you can avoid the scratches.

by:

I am hooking up trailers often, so I get a lot of use out of my Swift Hitch Alignment Camera & Monitor. I have purchased a couple of these outfits for my neighbors as well and they really like them. It works really great, no jumping in & out of my truck to see if I'm lined up, so it saves a lot of time. I definitely recommend the Swift Hitch Alignment Camera & Monitor to anyone who uses trailers.

Thanks

Just recovering from a neck surgery with a very stiff neck. Swift Hitch portable camera system made it very easy for me to hook up horse trailer this weekend with few moves. However, my truck has blue tooth phone connection. May be this is a reason for the receiver monitor having lines, making it very difficult for me to see anything between cotton balls. I had to hold the monitor out of the window, finding a sweet spot to complete the hitching.
It would be nice if charging could be done from 110V outlet. Driving around charging both bateries 2,5 hours ( as suggested ) was not fun.
Over all I like this system, it helps. But a larger screen, cleaner-crisper picture and a longer depth of field would have been nicer to have.

by:

Purchased this to replace a Master Lock backup camera in which I used maybe 4-5 times and the LCD screen on the receiver died after a couple of years. Expect to use the Swift Hitch within the next week or so however I have tested it. Seems to work as advertised. Another reviewer mentioned the field of view is too small and I agree. The Master Lock camera had a field of view of probably 25 feet. More importantly the image on the hand held receiver of the Swift Hitch is almost impossible to see in bright sun light. This is true even when sitting inside my truck and attempting to shield the monitor from sun light. I stood in my garage while the camera was on and still had difficulty seeing the image. Although I still plan to use the device, given the small field of view and extremely poor image quality in bright sun light (a issue I did not have with Master Lock), this product is over priced and received a low rating.

by:

I researched many other cameras, and this one was the best - and the price at etrailer was lower than anywhere I could find. I was nervous hitching my trailer up before, but this made it a breeze - it's pretty much idiot-proof. Word of advice - don't leave the camera attached with just the magnet. My Denali doesn't have much metal to attach this to so the area I could find on my tailgate wasn't the best to attach this camera to - it may bounce off if you travel over bumps.

Shipping was fast, and arrived before estimated delivery date. ALL of my future RV and travel trailer purchases will be through etrailer - what a great experience!

by:

I have used this camera for four years to assist in hooking up my airstream trailer to Hensley hitch system.

I am by my self traveling full time without this system in would be impossible to hook up. Once charge up it never failed

Highly recommend to any one allow pulling a trailer

by:

Swift Hitch: Wow! It's amazing how one product can bring back the joy of boating! I have to push (front hitch) my boat into our backyard because the alley behind the house is very tight. This makes the hook-up so easy AND then I place it on the back of the trailer (now the front-most part) and use it to assist making the turn into the backyard. Could not do it without it!!
Snap-On Towing Mirrors: Fit very nicely and secure. Add just the right amount of additional mirror range needed for backing up my pontoon!! Great product!!
The best part of this sale was how super helpful the sales representative from etrailer was in helping me find a solution to my concerns!!
THANKS VINCE!!!

After installing a tool box in my pickup bed, I could no longer see my goose neck hitch. It works perfect for that now and in 1-2 moves I am exactly where I need to be. It also is working for my bumper hookup and will soon use it on my tractor to help connect a hitch on my loader. It is becoming a VERY useful tool for us.

  • Difference Between the Swift Hitch Digital Wireless Hitch Alignment Systems
The Swift Hitch Digital Wireless Hitch Alignment Systems save for the part # 04928 (SH01) all use the same camera. There is a product that I used to attach my helmet camera to my streetbike helmet that is made by 3M that should work very well for you as long as the corrugation of your trailer is not too small. It is called Dual-Lock Fastening Strip and it basically works similar to velcro, but it has a much stronger hold and it would not vibrate at all. I wish we carried it, but if you did an internet search you should be able to track it down pretty easily.

  • Availability of Hardwire Back Up Camera System to Eliminate Bluetooth Interference
I recommend going with a hardwired backup camera system. Take a look at the Hopkins Rear View Camera with Backup Sensors, # HM60195VA . This system is hardwired from the camera to the monitor which will help to eliminate unwanted interference. I have included a link to a video showing a typical installation of this system for you.

  • Can I use a Larger Video Display for the Swift Hitch Wireless Backup Camera System # 04928
Yes, you can use the video out cable from the Swift Hitch Wireless Camera System, # 04928, to use a larger video display. I tested this on an 80 inch LED TV at our offices here and it will work. The resolution does not improve, but the video quality is still very good. As long as your 12 volt DVD monitor has the RCA video input, then this will work. Since you also plan on using this on a skid-steer, I recommend mounting the camera as high above the engine compartment as possible and mount...

  • Does the Furion Vision S Have an Internal Power Source
The Furrion Vision S # FOS43TASF would need to be plugged in at all times as it does not have an internal power source. That being said, I have a couple options that may suite your needs better if you preferred to not have the power wire going to the camera. The Rear View Safety # RVS-83112 would be a wireless system, but the monitor would need to be plugged into a cigarette lighter port at all times. However, it doesn't have wires running anywhere. The plug on the end if attached to a...

The batteries you for the monitor and camera that come with the Swift Hitch Digital Wireless Hitch Aligner System # 04928 (which is the same as the SHO1 but a different part number) are: - Replacement Battery for Swift Hitch SH01 Camera # PB02 - Replacement Battery for Swift Hitch Monitor # PB01

  • How to See Better Behind an 8 Foot, 3 Inch Wide Trailer Towed by a 2006 Toyota Sequoia
Universal Fender Mount Towing Mirror # WM6600 extends out from the fender by about 17 inches. What you can do to determine how much visibility you will have is to have someone hold a mirror in about that same location, 17 inches out from the fender on your 2006 Toyota Sequoia, and then sit in the driver seat and check out the view. Another option other than a towing mirror is to use a camera system such as # 04928. This is a wireless system so I recommend have the camera part mounted up...

  • Is the Swift Hitch Trailer Hitch Aligner Portable Wireless Camera System Waterproof
The camera in the Swift Hitch, # 04928, is weather resistant but the camera is not completely sealed so it cannot be considered waterproof. For something to be considered waterproof it would have to be able to be submerged under water for a certain amount of time and still function. For rainy weather, though, the camera will work but I do recommend that once you are done using it, place the camera where it is out of the rain. I have included a couple of videos of this system for you.

  • Which Backup Cameras Have Night Vision for Night Time Use
The Hopkins Rear View Camera, # HM60195VA, does not have infrared or LED lights for better night vision on the monitor. In dark places or at night, the image would appear washed and dim. For a good system that does have night vision, we have the Switch Hitch, # 04928. This system uses infrared lighting. The image is not as good as broad daylight but it is much better compared to a system with no night vision.

  • Options to Power Lights in Trailer Without Being Connected to 7-Way on Truck
When it comes to running the lights in your trailer without having to hook to the 7-way on your truck, I recommend using some 10 gauge wire to add a car battery to your trailer for power. You'll just need a few supplies in addition to a battery; 10 gauge wire, # 10-2-1 (sold by the foot), 2 ring terminals like # 44-5356A, and a couple quick splice connectors, # SWC501915-1. Just find a spot on the trailer for a battery, splice into the 12 volt circuit on your 7-way with one of the wires...

  • Backup Camera that Can be Used at Back of Trailer
The Rear View Safety Wireless Hitch Camera # RVS-83112 could potentially work as a backup camera for your trailer but realistically the range probably wouldn't be good enough. This has a 45 foot unobstructed range which unfortunately is not the same as 45 feet from the inside of your vehicle, through the back window and then around a large enclosed trailer. For a similar setup that has a larger range (300 feet) the Swift Hitch part # 04928 would be a much better option. I attached a review...

  • Backup Camera that Can Mount in Truck Bed Under Camper Shell
Our backup cameras were designed to be on the outside of a vehicle exposed to the weather so they'd easily handle being mounted on the inside of a truck camper shell. For that the Rear View Safety Backup Camera part # RVS-155W would be a great option. It's wireless so you wouldn't have to come up with a way to get the camera signal from the truck bed to the truck cab. It comes with a 5 inch monitor that normally attaches to a windshield. I attached a link to a review video for the kit for...

  • Rear View Safety Wireless Hitch Camera
The camera you asked about is exactly the same as the Rear View Safety Wireless Hitch Camera # RVS-83112 with the exception that this one uses a 9 volt battery and not a rechargeable battery and the same features, including shut off, apply to both. You also cannot rig either to an external power source and neither will work reliably inside a trailer, they are designed to be used outside a trailer. The option that I recommend over the Rear View is the Swift Hitch Wireless Camera and Monitor...

  • Can Hopkins Backup Camera be Submerged Under Water
The camera portion of Hopkins backup camera # HM50002 is not rated for submersion under water. What I recommend is the Swift Hitch wireless camera # 04928. It is not waterproof but you can mount the camera up higher so that it does not get submerged. I have linked a video review of this camera system for you.

  • Recommended Cargo Camera Kit for Factory Monitor on 2022 Ram 3500
I do have an option for you but we don't currently offer any cargo camera kits which tie into the factory monitor on a 2022 Ram 3500. In order to obtain this you would need to go through the dealer for an OEM kit. That said, if you are just looking for a quick and cost effective solution you can use the Swift Hitch Wireless Hitch Alignment Camera and Monitor part # 04928 which will attach to the roof using the included magnetic mount or the back glass with the Suction Cup Mount part # PM01....

  • Rearview Camera for Visibility When Using Thule Transporter # TH665C on 2015 Cadillac SRX
Thank you for providing the photo of your 2015 Cadillac SRX and your hitch-mount Thule Transporter Enclosed Cargo Carrier # TH665C. This large-capacity cargo carrier will indeed block most OEM cameras that are installed near the rear license plate. But we do offer aftermarket camera systems that will mount high enough on the vehicle's rear to still provide improved visibility. Swift Hitch offers their Wireless Camera System with Night Vision, part # 04928. I recommend this system since...
