This time-delayed brake controller is designed to mount at any angle, even upside down. The controls are all up front for easy access, including a slide-bar manual override and a thumbwheel for braking output. LED indicator shows your braking status.
Features:
Specs:
The Tekonsha POD is designed to mount in any direction, and it's especially suited for mounting on near-vertical dashes. All the controls are on the front of the module, so you can still access them with the controller tucked away in a convenient place.
Braking output is the maximum amount of power that will be applied to your trailer's brakes. How much braking output you need is determined by the weight of your trailer; a heavier trailer will need more power to bring it to a stop. You want to set the braking output as high as you can without locking up the brakes. Once you've set up the brake controller the first time, you shouldn't need to adjust the settings until the trailer load changes, you switch trailers, or road conditions change. Use the thumbwheel on the side to change the braking output level. The output setting will appear as a number on the digital display, with a higher number indicating higher braking power.
The Tekonsha POD keeps the manual override within easy reach on the front of the module, great for stopping sway or controlling your trailer's momentum in emergencies. Push the slide-bar lever to activate the trailer's brakes and brake lights without you having to apply the brakes on your tow vehicle, perfect for limiting trailer movement while you re cruising.
Because inertia plays no role in the functioning of this controller, you do not have to mount the unit at any particular angle. Your mounting options are limitless, with the controller designed with all of the controls on the front of the module so you can access them even if it's mounted upside down.
If your vehicle already has a plug-in brake controller wiring harness, just connect the unit to it. Otherwise, you will need to purchase a vehicle-specific wiring harness (sold separately) to plug into. If a harness is unavailable for your vehicle, hardwiring will be necessary.
See also etrailer.com's exclusive 7- and 4-way brake control installation kit (ETBC7 - sold separately) if you don't already have a 7-way plug at the back of your vehicle.
Note: If a custom brake control wiring adapter is not available for your vehicle, a 20-amp circuit breaker (sold separately) may be required for installation.
The Tekonsha POD comes equipped with time-delayed braking. Every time you apply the brakes in your vehicle, a signal is sent - via the brake switch - to the POD. The controller then sends power out to your trailer brakes to activate them with an intensity set by you, at a rate determined by you. The amount of braking power (output) can be adjusted to suit your preference, the road conditions, the type of trailer, and the weight of your load. To determine which levels are best for your application, test your towing setup and choose what feels right.

Install your electric brake controller quickly and easily with this custom wiring adapter. Simply plug one end of the adapter into your brake controller and then plug the other end into the built-in harness beneath your vehicle's dash.
Features:
This adapter plugs into the 4-pin connector on your vehicle's built-in brake control wiring harness. The harness is located underneath the dash, to the left of the steering column, taped to another harness near the emergency brake pedal.
To install your electric brake controller you need to connect the wiring of the controller to your vehicle. Certain manufacturers offer pre-wired options, typically known as tow packages, wherein these wires are run for you from the dash to the trailer connector on the back of your vehicle. Often, a brake controller wiring harness is included with your tow package. This harness plugs into a port beneath your dash and connects to the four wires of the brake controller. If, however, you have a brake controller with a plug in place of the four loose wires, you can use the Tekonsha adapter.
This adapter requires no hardwiring. It is designed to plug directly into your electric brake controller for the simplest installation possible. Because there are no wires to connect, installation is not permanent. You can unplug and remove your brake controller at any time and securely stow it away.

I carefully cut a hole at the back of the pocket just above the transmission controls, and with one end plugged into the truck, the other end was just long enough to plug into the controller before mounting it. I appreciate the nylon loom over the wires x a little extra protection when dragging the wires over metal brackets.
Great little brake controller for the money if you don't need heavy braking on a larger trailer. Simple and economic.
We have a Honda Ridgeline and needed this for our camper trailer. It was nice ordering the specific plug in wire for the Ridgeline and therefore eliminating hard wiring, just plugged it in. It was rough getting to the factory plug under the dash by the emergency brake petal switch. My hands are not small enough, ha ha. But success was had. Plugged into the controller and mounted it and u-wall-a. It works the way it is suppose to, I like that. A good quality unit that does what it is suppose to. thanks.
Very happy with this product. It fit nicely in my truck and plugged right into the factory wiring harness. Total installation time was under an hour. Easy to adjust, and works perfectly with my 5th wheel trailer. I simply pulled out the little storage cubby from the dash, cut the back off, slid the controller in, bolted it together, and stuck it all back in the dash. Looks and works great.
I have a 2012 Honda Pilot Touring. I needed to add an electric brake controller for my pop-up trailer. Based on the etrailer recommendation, I bought this wiring adapter and just hoped that it would work. Worked like a champ. It took me a moment or two to figure out where to plug it in on the Pilot, but once I did, it was trivial to make the connection.
eTrailer customer service agent (Bailey) is very knowledgeable and been a tremendous help in ordering the correct brake controller!

After 1 year and over 13,000 miles??? Excellent!!!
We found this product through a search for info on how to install a brake controller on our 2017 Honda Ridgeline. We had a Draw-Tite Activator IV Controller but struggled to hook it up until we watched your online video and discovered the existence of this Tekonsha adapter (3070-P) which was literally plug and play. We chose to install our controller in the same location as in the video but did not want to cut a hole in the panel. The wires tucked easily out of the way without cutting the hole. We towed yesterday and the trailer brakes/controller worked perfectly. Never could have done this without your video and this adapter. The picture shows our controller installed. You can’t really see the adapter since much of it is tucked under the dash.

One year later we are still towing with a perfectly working brake controller thanks to this plug and play adapter! No issues!
We have a Honda Ridgeline and this part plugged into the factory plug that was under the dash by the emergency brake petal switch. It was difficult to get to, but success was achieved. This was needed for our camper trailer. This made it easy, no hard wiring, just ordered the part for the Ridgeline and then plug and go. The brake controller plugged into the other end and now I am a happy camper. It worked, I blew a fuse while installing, must have touched something? No problem though, replaced it and was all was good.

After one year, it is nice to not even think about it. I love products that work correctly. Gives one peace of mind. This is a great product. . thanks etrailer and Tekonsha for being wonderful companies. . . jim
I gave this a 4 star just because I haven't been able to hook up the trailer yet. The Primus IQ brake controller light is on so I'm assuming it will be fine. The harness arrived in good time.
I was able to hook it up in my 2017 Honda Ridgeline in about 20 minutes. The longest part was finding the connection! It was above and left of the parking brake. A headlamp really helped. It's very tight in there so I could use only one hand and did a lot of it by feel. In the picture you need to follow the red wire to the connection.
The brake controller I mounted on the plastic in front of my right knee.

Update - Everything worked fine. We went on several trips with our trailer and no problems at all.
Easy to install in my Toyota-Tacoma 2012. I pull my Travel Trailer and this break controller worked very well and with just a little bit adjustment. Also this item was shipped very fast.
I have a Toyota Tacoma (06). I had the controller installed in less than five minutes. One minute to gather the tools: drill/bits, screw driver, and tape. I thought tape would be helpful to hold the ground screw to the driver given the tight are under the dash. One minute to drill the ground hole. One minute to install the ground screw. One minute to plug in the cables and fish the wire under the stirring wheel to allow for the controller to be mounted in the storage area found on Tacoma trucks dash. I guess I was wrong. It only took four minutes. I did not need to put the tools away I was off to do other projects. I rate the product as good because I have not tried it on the trailer yet.
I received my purchase very quickly.
I just installed the control and wire harness today. Installation was easy, all you need are basic hand tools and a drill with a small bit.
Haven't had chance to test it out yet but, when I do I'll update.
Worked out perfectly for me, super easy installation with adapter harness. Work's flawlessly, easy one hand gain control with control's on front. My truck had nice cubby it fit in so out of the way and seamless look. Thanks for a great product and service.
Hello, as requested I have attached some pics of the brake controller after installation on my 2017 Honda Ridgeline.
I have a lease vehicle so I did not want to drill any holes in the vehicle to mount or run wires. So what I did was install the mount bracket upside down and place a strong commercial velcro patch to the brake controller mount and to the tray area that it is sitting on. Then I slipped the wire harness between the crack in the IP and the lower console and tucked it up behind the dash so it could not be seen. The velcro holds the brake controller quite secure. This way I can remove the controller and reuse in my next vehicle without leaving any permanent marks or holes to this one.
Anyway , just thought I would share…
As far as the controller. I am very happy with its operation and functions.
Just bought a Prodigy 3 and on my first trip with our light weight T@B clamshell with electric brakes pulled with a 2016 Honda Pilot...very satisfied.
I installed a factory hitch and harness and the cable etrailor provided snapped right in. The trailer is under 2,000 lbs so I opted to bet the boost to zero. So far so good. The only issue is it seems to apply the brakes more firmly when going over rough pavement, otherwise the braking action is very smooth.
I didn't want to mount the controller bracket permanently so I bent an angle plate into a U shape and pop riveted it so it would hang in the lower trim panel.
Thanks to etrailer’s video “Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee”, the installation of a Tekonsha PowerTrac controller on my 2003 Jeep was very straight forward (and I’m not a car guy!). Like in the video, I used the wiring kit (#5506). I forgot to order a pigtail wiring harness but was able to pick one up locally. Took the trailer out last weekend and the brakes worked great.
I sell and install a variety of components for various companies and individuals. I have zero comebacks from this company. Not that I haven't received defective parts but they always make it right. And that is good business.
Purchased this brake controller and the corresponding wiring harness and installed in my 2017 Ridgeline. Installation was easy. Factory plug is behind dash right above the parking brake. A little tight to get your hand in, but not too bad. I did not cut thru the plastic panel behind the controller like some installs. Cable is long enough and can be ran in the crack between the two plastic panels (See picture). Install turned out good and controller is easy to setup. Very happy with purchase.
The controller was a great option for our 2021 forest river FSX and gave me plenty of control over the brakes. It does require a adjustment time to time but has always worked when brakes are applied. The setup and installation were a breeze and has worked for many trips.
The control works great. Nice incremental application of wheel from nothing to hard on! Led light goes from green to red also in incremental degrees. Installation was a snap in my 2008 F150 with tow package. Just Plug in the control clip and the other end in the terminal above and to the right of the computer check terminal. Rather than have it below my dash I opted for the cove below the lighter. Etrailer did a nice job of getting out to me right away and kept me informed where this was at all the way to my door. Good Job!
I bought this to connect a Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller to the 2020 Honda Ridgeline factory trailer wiring harness. It's a perfect fit. I routed the wiring adapter through the space between the lower part of the dash and the upper part of the console. This prevented having to drill a 1" diameter hole in the back of the dash pocket to allow clearance for the adapter connector.
Super easy install. I used the adapter cable for my 22 Ridgeline and had the controller installed and operational in 20 minutes. I highly recommend the TEKONSHA PRODIGY P3 this works real well with the 7x14 COVERED WAGON we just bought. ETRAILER is the got to source for what you need for any trailer.
Had trouble with my first controller, which it turns out was being recalled. etrailer had me return the Curt controller and I purchased the Tekonsha which worked like a charm from day one.
Have used the power track for a year with city and interstate travel and a 4000# single axle TT. Working flawlessly on my 20 Blazer using a bypass stoplight switch.
Why splice the 2 harness ends from your tow vehicle to the brake controller….use the correct adapter cable…much simpler!

Perfect. I tow a heavy trailer only a few times a year, and every time I do, the controller works as I expect. The controls are simple enough that I do not have to review instructions to bump the power up or down to match the trailer weight.
