  • Two Wires on 2011 Kia Sedona Receiver Power Only When Brake Pedal is Depressed
  • I spoke with my contact at Tekonsha regarding the brake switch wire on your 2011 Kia Sedona. While this is not very common, they have seen instances like yours where there appears to be two possible brake switch wires that will be used for a brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885. Typically, when this is the case, one of the wires will be the correct brake light/switch while the other is actually the cruise control circuit. The potential issue to connecting to the cruise...

  • Connection a Brake Controller to the Brake Switch Wire on a 2006 Kia Sedona
  • You do not remove the wires off of the brake switch to install a brake controller. You will use a quick splice connector, included with the # ETBC7 kit. A quick splice work by placing the signal wire (in this case the proper brake switch wire) in one track inside the quick splice and then the wire you are splicing into (in this case the red brake controller wire) in the other track. Then you crimp it down with pliers to complete the connection. In the video on the 2008 Sedona our installer...

  • Can Curt Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch for RVs # 13703 install on the Outside of an I-Beam Frame
  • I spoke with my contact at Curt about hitch # 13703 and he said that you can install the side brackets on the outside of an I-beam frame by turning them around. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you to view. The hitch can be bolted or welded on. If you choose to weld it on the welding should be done by a qualified professional.

  • Cleaning Out Weld Nuts to Install a Trailer Hitch on a 2011 Kia Sedona
  • I would advise against using a thread tap to clean the weld nuts on your 2011 Kia Sedona. That should be a last resort because the possibility of a less than perfect tap is high. We recommend using a combination of spray lubricant, a wire brush, and elbow grease to clean corroded weld-nuts. We even have a help article and video on this subject which I have linked for you. The bolts for hitch # C13345 are indeed M12 x 1.25. For a wire brush you can use # 814092.

  • Correct Hitch Mounting Bolt Size for 2006 Kia Sedona
  • The hitch for the Sedona does use M12 x 1.25 bolts. What you describe is a very common issue. Once a vehicle is more than a couple years old, road grime and corrosion can build up on the nuts welded into the frame which makes it difficult to get the mounting bolts for the # C13345 started, making you think you have the wrong installation hardware. This is especially common in the Midwest and North where ice melting chemicals are commonly used on roads in the winter. I'd recommend using...

  • Installing a Thule AeroBlade Edge onto a 2016 Kia Sedona
  • I have a relative video for you on installing a flush rail kit similar to the Edge kit for your 2016 Kia Sedona. We haven't made one specifically for your vehicle, but I've included an installation on a 2016 BMW X3 that uses a similar style of foot pack to install to the vehicle. The bar will end up using the fit kit part # THKIT4057 to clamp onto the flush rails. the single screw will be used to connect the fit kit to the foot pack of the rail by turning the metal tube in the foot so...

  • How Can the Bike Adapter For Draw-Tite and Reese Cargo Carriers Work for Up To 4 Bikes
  • To hold 4 bikes with the Bike Adapter For Draw-Tite and Reese Cargo Carriers you would need to load the bikes with the handle bars in alternating directions, two on each side of the bar, and then use tie downs, item # 05605, to attach the bikes to the carrier and support bar. If you need to carry 4 bikes a hitch mounted bike carrier (see link) would most likely be a better option for you. This option will keep the bikes form contacting each other and causing damage to the bike finish or...

  • Does App Need to be Running During Travel on Curt Echo Brake Controller
  • When towing with the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 installed I do recommend having the app/software opened up on your phone during travel, however it is not required for proper operation. The ideal setup would be to have the phone mounted in a visible location such as using a dash-mounted bracket like # PC03. This is simply so that you can have access to the manual override button (the large orange circle on the app) if needed. To more directly answer your question...

  • Solution for Hitch Install Hardware of 2011 Kia Sedona LX that Wont Thread In
  • The issue you are describing is a pretty common one we see. The easy solution is to tap the threads with an M12 X 1.25 thread tap. This is the most efficient way to clean the weld nuts on your vehicle frame.

  • Who Can Install Timbren Suspension Enhancement on a 2011 Kia Sedona
  • Installation of the Timbren springs, # TDVR05096, on a 2011 Kia Sedona is actually very straight-forward as you can see in the instructions I have linked. You may be able to perform this installation at home. Otherwise any trusted mechanic or a place that deals in performance and aftermarket accessories could perform the installation. You can call around to see who can do it and for local labor costs.

  • Does The Yellow Wire Coming For The Adapter 4 Pole to 7 Pole Have To Be Attached
  • The yellow wire coming from the back of the 7-way connector on the Adapter 4 Pole to 7 Pole Vehicle End Trailer Connector part # 30717 is an auxiliary wire used for reverse lights or a reverse lockout. Therefore, no the yellow wire will not need to be attached in order for the trailer's tail lights to work.

  • Does Curt Echo Brake Controller Need to be Level with Ground
  • The Curt Echo Brake Controller # C51180 referenced in your question does not need to be at any particular angle in relation to the ground for proper operation. The controller simply needs to be plugged into the 7-Way on the tow vehicle and it will work as it should. When converting your 4-Way to a 7-Way with an adapter like the Curt # C57102 you will only need to run the 12V power wire up to the vehicle's battery like you mentioned. The brake output pin on the 7-Way does not need to be...

  • Locating Reverse Light Circuit on 2017 Kia Sedona For 5-Way Adapter Installation
  • On your 2017 Kia Sedona the easiest place to find the wire is the wire loom that goes from the hatch to the body of the vehicle. It can typically be found near the top. Once you find this you will need to pull out the wires and test them using a circuit tester like the # PTW2993 until you find the circuit that is only active when in reverse. Note the color of the wire and trace it to where it goes behind the panels of the vehicle. Then you can tap into it with the # C57187. I have attached...

  • Details on the Ratcheting Hooks, Hitch Adapter, and Lock Option for the Swagman XC2 Bike Rack
  • Excellent questions. First, absolutely the ratcheting feature of the hooks on the Swagman XC bike rack # S64650 will stay firmly in place and not back out no matter how long or short the trip. The 1-1/4 to 2 inch adapter included with the rack screws onto the bike rack shank so you won't have to worry about losing it or doing anything else with it really. To lock the rack to the hitch you will not use a pad lock. Instead you will need the Locking Anti-Rattle, Threaded Hitch Pin for Swagman...

  • How to Remove the Coil Spring on a 2006 Kia Sedona in order to Install a Timbren Rear Suspension
  • In order to install the Timbren rear suspension enhancement system # TDVR05096, the first thing you will need to do is lower the rear control arm. In order to lower the rear control arm to remove the coil spring, remove the inner control arm bolt by loosening the outer bolt and allow a jack to slowly lower the control arm to release tension on the spring. See the diagram I included. Another way to lower the control arm is to remove the wheel, and the outer control arm bolt from the...

  • Testing Brake Light Switch Wire to Install Prodigy P2 Brake Controller on 2010 Kia Sedona LX
  • Thank you for your purchase of the Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller # 90885 as well as a hitch and other kits for your 2010 Kia Sedona. You have discovered why we still sell circuit testers like # PTW2992 and why we include one in our brake controller installation kit # ETBC7: auto makers change wire colors without notice and so wire color in not always a reliable way to make connections. The only sure way to know which wire is on the cold side of the brake light switch (this is the...

  • Brake Controller Installation on 2012 Kia Sedona
  • How to proceed from here will depend on what you've completed up to this point. If you've installed a 4-pole already, you'll just need our Brake Controller Install Kit, part # ETBC7. The kit contains everything needed to install the controller, with the exception of the brake controller itself and a functional 4-pole trailer connector on the Sedona. Since I'm not 100 percent positive what you've already completed, I'll start from scratch, and you can disregard the parts that don't apply. The...

  • Questions on Using Glacier Snow Chains # PWPLC1142 on 2007 Kia Sedona EX with 235/60R17 Tires
  • Driving speed should be reduced whenever conditions require the use of snow chains: if road conditions justify snow chains, they also justify driving more slowly. Tire chains do in fact have speed limit ratings that must be observed to protect the chains themselves, your tires and rims, your vehicle and for your personal safety. These speed ratings may vary from one brand/type of chain to another, but generally the recommended driving speeds for tire chains range from 30 - 40 mph. No chain...

  • Does Trailer Wiring Harness 118410 Have to Be Wired to 2006 Kia Sedona Battery
  • Yes, you would need to connect the power wire on harness # 118410 to the vehicle battery on your 2006 Kia Sedona. The harness comes with extra wire to go from the power wire to the battery. How you route the wire is up to you and I have included a link to an FAQ article I wrote that explains the options. I have also linked a video that shows a typical installation that should help as well. The easiest way to route the wire is under the vehicle. If you do this you just have to make sure...
