Brake Controller Installation on 2012 Kia Sedona
Question:
HI: We have installed the kit or plug that our Jayco Kiwi will use in our 2012 Kia Sedona. The installation is not totally complete but we tested the standard trailer plug with a test light and everything works up to this point. Given that we now have the link between the van and the trailerwhat else will we need to install the HM47297 Hopkins Brake Controller in our 2012 Kia Sedona? Also, what will these items cost? And, do you carry Goodyear Marathon tires for a unit like ours? We need three tires one replacement tire should be mounted on a painted [not galvanized] rim the spare was stolen and the unit calls for a P180/80 R13. These numbers are by memory we are working on it down at the shop. Thanks!

How to proceed from here will depend on what you've completed up to this point. If you've installed a 4-pole already, you'll just need our Brake Controller Install Kit, part # ETBC7. The kit contains everything needed to install the controller, with the exception of the brake controller itself and a functional 4-pole trailer connector on the Sedona. Since I'm not 100 percent positive what you've already completed, I'll start from scratch, and you can disregard the parts that don't apply.
The install kit will need a functioning 4-pole on the vehicle. You can install one using part # 118410. Once the 4-pole is in place, it'll plug right into the adapter included in the install kit, converting it into a 7-way. There will be four extra wires from the 7-way, the blue output wire for the brake controller, the black wire for 12-volt power from the tow vehicle's battery, the white ground wire and a purple wire. The kit will install as shown in the instructions and the install video I've linked for you. The video shows the a brake controller being installed on a 2008 Sedona, but the procedure would be identical on your 2012 model. You can see current pricing by using the provided link to the product description page.
We do carry trailer tires, but not the Goodyear Marathon brand. Could you have meant 185/80-13 tires? If so, I've linked you to our available tires and wheel/tire combos in that size. We offer the tires in load range D as part # AM1ST79 or mounted on a white powder coated 13 x 4-1/2 inch rim as part # AM3S331. You can see these by clicking the provided links.
As a final word, according to Kia, your Sedona is rated to tow 3500 lbs. You'll want to make sure the fully loaded weight of the camper doesn't exceed that figure.
